(This thread should probably be stickied. We want spectators for this one. Thanks, Grey.)

OOC: This is a challenge to Grey only, but we want as many spectators as possible to watch and comment on the fight. Grey and I have been planning for this battle for about a month or two... and things are finally ready to be let loose. Good luck, adversary!

Moments after a conflict with Grey, Team Gemini, some Spuck and yours truly...

...a mass of multicolored crystals begin to grow very fast in the middle of Battle Arena A, which is more like a high-tech colluseum than just an arena... A stands for Alpha. The crystals grow up into sort of a coccoon shape, then burst, revealing a 6'4'' teenage boy with a big nose and killer sideburns. He wears a loose T-shirt, the same one he uses in Badmitton games, and tan cordaroys (which he usually wears no matter what). A sense of righteous anger is visible within him.

The lanky teenager holds his hand up in the empty Arena, and more crystals start to form in his hand. Then they change shape and form a multicolored, crystal megaphone.

The teenager yells into the megaphone loudly,
"Attention, all Sim-Battlers and Roleplayers of Acmlm's Board! I am Aspie Hunter Schweitzer. Lend me your ears and listen!

"I will be challenging Thomas, you know him as "Grey", to a 1 on 1 duel between writers. Arrive as soon as possible to watch your so-called fearless leader do his best against me! I am in Battle Arena Alpha, awaiting him."

He yelled very loudly, enough for people miles away to hear. Soon, the spectators will arrive, and even sooner hopefully, Grey himself will arrive... then the duel will begin, and Aspie Hunter Schweitzer will get his revenge...

OOC: Gonna try something strange here... Please, nobody else mimic this style, or else things may get extremely confusing.

Grey: "Aw, hell man... This isn't even ceremonial... You really lack a touch."

Grey stiffened his neck and cracked it a few times, having already found and entered the colloseum. Fearless leader? That one was a bit of a stretch...

"Battle's meaningless nowadays, you see? Fighting's pointless and conflict is SO passe. The least you can do is have some flair to it. But then, this IS your first time doing this."

He was shortish, actually. The boy snapped his fingers and the familiar rush of white light reached into the skies, blinding all around that could see. When it faded, in his place stood nothing more than a boy, known to my friends and family as Tom. Shaggy hair, unkempt beard, and a fashion sense like a british otaku. I was thin, but thin in the way that made you wonder if I actually exercised at all. Rather, I was fat, but fat in the way that made you wonder if I ate anything at all. Certainly, my arms and legs seemed stronger than the rest of me, but somehow, I seemed old and feeble. To Hunter, I wondered, was I what I seemed to be, or a shell of a higher power? He would certainly find out soon enough.

Tom: "Special effects always attract the crowds. If you want, I'll keep this in the minds of all around us."

I snapped my fingers, and velcro appeared on the floor of the arena for a few seconds, only to fade instantly. Stickied!

"Alright, I gotta level with you. I honestly forgot what I'm doing here. I get the feeling I'm supposed to be fighting you for a REASON, but the fact of the matter is, neither of us can hurt each other. I know for a fact, anyway, that you can't hurt me. So this fight's probably gonna be a little redundant. But hey, let's give it a shot anyway."

The footsteps of my skate shoes echoed throughout the empty colloseum as I approached Hunter. Despite the vivid description he had been given, Hunter's appearance... really did evade me. Sideburns? The only thing I could really think of was Solid Snake. I casually strode over to Hunter's front and extended my hand. God, I hoped he'd take it. The last thing I needed at this point was to lose another friend. ESPECIALLY if we were just competing as friends.

"So, what do you say? Good fight?"

William entered the arena in a shower of pixels, front row center. He appeared in a different attire though. He wore a Yoshi's Island shirt with all eight different colored Yoshi's surrounding the Yoshi's Island title. He made that shirt himself, getting tired of his plain shirts he wore all the time. He wore simple blue jeans and simple tennis shoes. He was being casual this time around, carrying with him absolutly no weapons on him.

Figures. It was his real self, not the William everyone sees online.

He leaned back against the seats behind him, resting his back and just chilling, waiting for the battle to start.

William: "Well, you asked for spectators, you got one so far."

He looked around and noticed that there was only one stand to get something to drink. He ran over to it, bought himself a liter of Dr. Pepper, and rushed back to his seat, sipping his soda slowly. He only had enough money for a few sodas and maybe a snack, so he needed to use it sparingly.

In the stands, a figure seemed to suddenly rise off the floor of the stands. He was the first spectator, and wouldn't have had it any other way.

Samuel: "..."

Shadow: "So, why did you decide to actually come."

Samuel: "Respect maybe? I'm really not to sure myself. It doesn't concern me and I could easily just ignore it."

Shadow: "Heh, we're more alike than you thought."

Samuel seemed to ignore it. His shadow talking to him didn't really make a difference to him. He was nearly 6 foot tall and had long hair for a male. What little of what could be seen of his face was kind of plain, and pale. The only smile he wore was one of arrogance, or possibly knowing something no one else did.

Samuel: "No... not really."

Shadow: "Fine, sure."

Samuel took a seat and prepared to watch what was about to happen, his shadow seperated from him and took a closer look.

Oh yes... Hunter had the sideburns to rival the great Isaac Asimov. And still does.

Aspie Hunter Schweitzer clutches Tom's hand and shakes. Then he holds his hand out for a high-five.

"I don't do handshakes... just high-fives. Can you hit me?" Schwa tenses as if he's going to pull his had away-- which it's obvious that he will.

He never changes. Hunter does this to everyone in real life, even to total strangers. Ahh, it's GOOD to be dysfunctional.

After Tom "tries" to hit him, Hunter makes a "small" speech in a loud voice.

"Here's the deal, folks out there... and Tom, listen up as well. Thomas and I "met", as in got to know each-other better, in two, just two, threads in Acmlm's Board. One was called 'Dealing with Autism' in the Officer's Club. Second was called 'Wisdom vs. Reason: Janus calls Schwa to Spar under the Stars', a battle between my character and his... I "won", but I do not consider wins and losses real in the Battle Arena, or at least that much... Grey and I stayed friends for a while, and we still are, nor have we ever not been since those two threads.

"But then... Wittwe Gwey got promoted to Local Mod... which SCARED the frickin' bajeezus outta me. I was still afraid of bans at that time, and I believe God provided for me that no edgey jokes were played on me while I was still affected by that fear. It isn't only until recently when Grey pulled the first offensive joke on me... changing my bloody Profile! I will NEVER let that go!

"That, along with some other minor offenses, such as insulting the almighty Megaman, and a few others I don't dare name, have caused me to step outside of the real world and into the Sim-Battle Arena, to engage a friend in 1-on-1 combat... for revenge. Do not worry, for it is my personal nature to get revenge on my friends when I feel they have wronged me. I will utterly pulverize Grey in this battle, but I will not forsake him as my friend. Ever. But the real question is... How will I defeat Grey?"

Hunter adds a 3-second pause, then leaps straight up into the air, spins around several times, and makes a Double-Jump 20 feet away from Tom.

"I will defeat him with my dysfunction... Autism. Muhuhaha... Behold, mortals!"

Hunter holds his right arm out, and multicolored crystals begin to form in his right hand in the shape of a long pole... which becomes a rainbow crystal paintbrish tipped with a glossy platinum paint.

"Autism is an energy that flows through a chosen few of us, in the real world. Some of us contain so much of that energy that it locks us in our own mind for eternity. But a very rare portion of us have JUST the right amount, and we become Aspurgers; masters of 2 worlds. I am one of those few... Autism flows through me, but I can control it. And when I personally step into the virtual world of Sim-Battling, Autism actually takes a physical form... These crystals are the physical embodyment of Autism. Don't stare at them for too long or anxiety will overcome you-- do not make contact with them or you will become paralyzed. It is the ULTIMATE weapon against anyone, especially General-Ed queers like YOU!"

He points at Grey accusingly. His mood has suddenly become VERY aggressive.

"So come on! Make the first move! I will defeat you, getting my revenge and at the same time, proving that a Special Ed fighter is overall more efficient than a--" sneering, "--queer."

OOC: Even though it's "us" fighting, don't take this personally. We're just RPing.

A figure stood under the shadows of the spectators' entryway with his arms crossed over his chest, quietly watching the situation below him unfold.

Corbin: Well, I see everyone's abandoned their virtual masks. I'll join in.

As the figure stepped out of the shadows to find a seat, his appearance was revealed. He was kind of short, about 5' 8'', but hadn't yet reached his full height - he would only be turning 15 in a few weeks. He had very dark brown hair, that curved like an upside-down U around his forehead in the front, but abandoned its orderliness at the back of his head, where it kind of bushed out in random directions, giving the boy a dignified, yet only partially sane look. He wore blue-rimmed glasses, too, that always seemed to be slightly smudged, despite the fact that he never touched them, and he cleaned them every day. Underneath his black, Old Navy sweatshirt that he always wore (even during the summer) was a black T-shirt with a dark purple logo that said 'Las Vegas' in a fancy typeface. He really liked dark colors. Below that, he wore some ordinary jeans, and slightly worn white tennis shoes.

After pausing long enough for the above description to be made, he found a seat and slouched into it.

Corbin: Oi, intro speeches. They always happen before these big events

"What the hell?" I said with awe... Hunter couldn't possibly be like this in real life. I never remembered insulting Megaman, in fact I thought I liked Megaman a lot... But he must've taken that comment about liking serieses other than the original a little too personally...

I also remembered the first practical joke I played on Hunter actually being that time I said I was watching him like a hawk for an offense he had no idea he had committed. He didn't actually do anything wrong, but I liked playing with the boy's head.

And what was that junk about General-Education? I remembered AEGIS was pretty fun. So were all those honors classes I took in high school. But hey, Hunter didn't know about me outside of the SB beyond what I had told him, so he'd just have to do some guesswork. It's not every day you meet a savant like him, that's for sure.

I watched him form the paintbrush with an equal amount of awe... He seemed to be taking this a bit too far, and I was wondering if he was really serious on his Asperger's taking a physical form in battle. That'd suck.

And then there was the queer joke... See, I'm really into human rights and allowing others to do and live as they wish. I guess I'm a burning leftist in that matter. I suppose if he actually was implying that I'm a homosexual in an insulting manner, I'd have to mess him up for using a hatecrime related joke on me. But then, queer has a double meaning involving general strangeness... And by saying I'm strange and he's normal, I guess that means he's trying to insult me in that way... But then, that doesn't affect me that much either, I've been called strange by way too many people to deal with anything like that anymore.

When he mentioned anxiety stemming from the crystals, I naturally did the human thing and stared right at one. Yeah, an overwhelming sense of stress and anxiety filled me, but it was kinda weird, actually. This was nothing compared to the stress I had to endure when I was with my ex-girlfriend. It was strong, that was true, but unless he overwhelmed me with it, I knew I'd be ok.

Oh, it's my time to talk right now... I guess I'd better come up with some kind of retort. In any case, Hunter can't hurt me. That much I knew. He'd have to find my weakness, first...

"Hey! Hunter!" I said with a confident grin, "You know you're not gonna be able to touch me, right? You've got to find my weakness..."

I raised my hand in front of my face and spread three fingers in front of his, and said, "And there's only three people on this entire board who know it."

After I did this, I stood up straight. Honestly? I had no clue what I was gonna do next. Some more talking seemed necessary at this point, so I continued my banter.

"I don't think I need to make the first move. That's up to you, man. You're the challenger," I said with a bit of nervousness... I was definitely going to have a tough time with this one.

Hunter smiles.

"That... is exactly what I knew you'd say."

Pause.

"You're soft, pal. I can read ya like a book." Hunter holds the giant paintbrush (it's as tall as him) above his head and spins it like a quarterstaff. "Part of me says to finish you quickly, but we have audience members and they want a show. I will let you suffer for a while instead. Hmhmhm..."

Hunter suddenly lets go of the brush, which continues to spin, before jumping up, grabbing it again, and thrusting it towards the foe in the most challenging way possible.

"ENGAGE!!" he yells so loud it could startle everyone... then he makes his first move.

Hunter holds the brush upward, and a rainbow light engulfs him for a brief second-- then Hunter dashes at Tom so fast, rainbow-colored illusions of himself are left behind Hunter. Hunter is also emitting sparks of Autistic energy along the ground as he dashes. 9 feet away from Tom, Hunter leaps straight up in the air, very high, points the brush at a 90 degree angle from Tom, and spins it like wildfire.

"Quillshot Autism!!!" (epic echo effects)

A wide flurry of arrowheads made of Autistic energy flurry around Tom for as long as Hunter twirls the brush-- 9 seconds. Each hit from an arrowhead does below-average damage but offers a high chance of paralysis.

After 9 seconds, Hunter stops twirling and makes a second jump from his position in midair (a Double Jump), backward, and lands 20 feet from Tom at a crouch.

"Th-that felt amazing! I knew Aspies were special, but I didn't know that in virtual dimmensions thei disability offers superhuman powers!!!" Hunter exclaims enthusiastically.

I really, really did need to tell Hunter right about now... Otherwise, he'd start to look really, really bad. Only way to do it was to just let him know. After all, if I didn't, he'd be wondering why Autistic energy wasn't working. It's strong stuff, for sure.

"What the heck is this, Hunt? I know you're a strong person and all, but this is really kinda hokey... Are you supposed to be hurting me or something? Looks more like a light show."

It was true: His attack wasn't really all that effective. Kinda tickled, and I definitely felt tense, but some stress-relief strategies that I knew from my counseling sessions back in 6th and 7th grade helped me deal with the awkwardness.

"Are you gonna actually attack me?" I asked with true innocence. This was easily my best defense at the time, just to let him know that his attacks weren't hurting me. I knew I had to take this slowly, or else he'd be too shocked, and then he really WOULD look bad.

"I'm telling you, you can't hurt me in conventional ways. You've got to find my weakness, much like any other reasonable foe. It's just that most of your foe's weaknesses have had to do with punching them in the face."

If he weren't such a good friend of mine, I might have relished the thought of dropping a few mental bombs on him at this point, but Hunter was someone I respected. I didn't want to hurt him.

Hunter stares... and is nearly knocked off his feet.

"Holy Christ! But-- I-- Oh, for God's sake... At least tell me it was a stylish move, right? You gotta give me one for style!"

Schwa doesn't attack yet, but holds the brush like a quarterstaff in his right hand. He knows for sure Tom's weakness isn't reachable with a physical attack... all Hunter really wanted to do was enjoy a hardcore battle like his online characters got to do, every day...

Schwa's eyes look teary.
"Jerk! Fight me like a man, or don't fight me at all!"

If there's ONE thing that always, always gets the better of Hunter, it's false expectations. This is due to Aspurgers. And because it is, Hunter is about to get MAJORLY hurt by his own energies if he doesn't get it back together... unknown to everyone...

Oh, damn. I pushed it too far. I didn't mean to, but I did.

"Wait, Hunter, there's a perfectly good reason for your attacks not hurting me, trust me."

I had to tell him. It was the only way to make sure he didn't get hurt...

"Hunter, you said so yourself, people who know how to control Autistic energy are talented, for sure. And naturally, if they can control the energy flowing through their body, then they can control it in general. Your attacks, they use Autistic energy, and they don't affect me, well..."

No turning back now, I thought. I didn't like what was about to happen, but I knew it was going to, anyway.

"....because I'm an aspie, too. Well, borderline. Not technically, but traces exist. A hybrid, if you will. I learned to control my autistic tendancies as a child, but I always had a thing for patterns and problems. And whenever I hit a mental block, I'd hit it so hard that I'd break down, too. I had to deal with counselors, and people everywhere always made fun of me because I couldn't deal with social roadblocks as well as they could."

I looked down at this point. I couldn't really do this as easily as I thought I could. Honestly, the internet wasn't the place to discuss stuff like this. Not publicly.

"Anyway... Like I said, I learned to control it of my own accord. I don't take medication, I don't have any kind of therapy, just a generalized anxiety disorder. Well, traces of it anyway. But because I recognize that there is something about me that would normally inhibit me, I capitalize on it and manage to make it into something dealwithable."

Yep, this was hurting. Going into overdrive at this point, I was.

"So.... I guess you could say I control Autistic energy, too. In any case, I'm serious when I say it doesn't affect me. It won't affect you either, if you have enough control over it. There's an order to my madness. Trust me though, when I say I know how you feel. I'd be much better off having a regular, ungimmicked battle with you than battling with powers that exist in large part in everyone's mind, untapped and uncontrolled."

That said, I DID have a weakness... But, Hunter was gonna need to find that carefully guarded secret in the only way he knew how to.

Hunter looks up and stares at the foe. "You were my Brother all this time and you never told me?"

Hunter has always considered anyone with the same disability as him his Brother (or Sister, in rare cases... only fery few females ever get AS). And back in the thread he started in the Officer's Club back when he was a newbie, Tom had deliberately told him he didn't have that blessing. And Hunter believed it.

"Well... you had a good reason to lie..."

Suddenly...

"KYYAH!!"

Spikes of Autistic energy pierce Hunter from the inside out. A spikeball has formed inside Hunter and dissolved, critically wounding him! Hunter falls to a kneel, humiliated...

Hunter had let anxiety take over. And because he is in a dimmension where Autistic energy had a physical form, anxiety, which once felt like a stab in the heart, WAS a stab in the heart. The spikeball had formed inside the heart.

But Hunter will live. And he's even in condition to fight still. After all, in this dimmension, he DOES have superhuman powers...

"My God... Maybe... Maybe I don't belong here..." Hunter chokes over the words. He honestly never though of his own powers turning on him like this... even though it was completely obvious that they could.

Either way, if Grey feels like continuing the fight, he's got a free shot.

"I'm not your brother, man..." I said. That was taking it too far. Line just got crossed, you see. I can't stand watching people overreact to the things I say. And this was definitely overreacting.

"If you'll recall, I said I had the symptoms of it within me, but I don't like self-diagnoses. If I DO have any form of Aspurger's, then that means I HAVE learned to control it. There's another thing you don't know about me: I actually do study mental disorders and theories of personality in my spare time. When I was younger, I had several mental tests done on me and it was unconcluded as to whether or not I was afflicted with Apsergers. They almost wanted to put me on Ritalin for ADD and OCD, actually. They figured that was what was wrong with me, but that my social inabilities were also reminiscient of Asperger. So you see, I'm a hybrid, an undefined mulling-together of various unidentified mental problems. But what really gets me is this:"

I was slowly walking toward Hunter as I spoke... This was becoming too stupid for me to contain any further... I roleplayed because I wanted to escape, not because I wanted to bring my own problems into a field where I shouldn't technically exist.

"You're treating your difference with the rest of the world like it makes you somehow not human. Be it more or less human than others, it's still false. You're human. I'm human. Amiachi? She's whatever she is too. We're all united by the fact that we are carbon-based lifeforms that move, breathe, think, reproduce, form societies, social heirarchies, law, order, and function. Being diagnosed with a disorder may make you think differently than others, but it doesn't turn you into something that's better or worse than a human."

There he was, kneeling on the floor as I circled him. I warned him about this beforehand, he knew full well the implications.

"We could rip each other's psyche apart, if we wanted to. I don't. Good reason to lie, god, that's bullshit. I'm not embarassed by anything I do, not anymore. And certainly not HERE. You belong here, Hunter. Everyone who enters this place, who escapes from reality, be it to gain a better understanding of their world or to get away from the horrors that they have to endure in real life, everyone who enters here belongs. There is no blessing to be had, other than that of life and the ability to live and be human. But there is no disadvantage, either. Life is a system of checks and balances that needs no mastery."

At this point, I was in an impassioned rage. The fourth wall had been shattered, and I was no longer roleplaying...

"You're only limited by the boundaries your mind sets, but in setting boundaries, your mind also opens up new paths. Some people expand their minds infinitely in all directions. They spread themselves too thin. Others stretch too far on one track. They have no knowledge of what lies outside their expertise. Balance, not mastery, needs to be attained. You and I, we are severely unbalanced people. Everyone is."

"Now, get up. You're not hurt. You're only hurt if you let yourself be hurt. That's the law of the Sim Battle, isn't it? You decide when you suffer. Don't let yourself be defeated by, well, something you can decide everything about."

I extended my hand towards Hunter.... No, not even Hunter. Towards whatever he wanted to be in this place.

Shadow: "I think its a great thing to hear, quite refreshing that someone is serious, a word mind you, that you can hardly ever spell."

Samuel stared at the shadow. He let it slide though.

Shadow: "So, think this will turn into a real fight or will be here all day being bored?"

Samuel: "Boredom."

Samuel sighed, he knew Grey's secret deep in his mind... or out of his mind maybe? He had forgotten it most likely, or it was in his mind and was waiting to be called upon when needed.

Shadow: "Come on Schwa! Don't let Grey beat you!"

Samuel: "Hunter, Tom, if you keep worrying about what you're doing you'll never be able to come out with anything. JUST SAY AND DO IT ALREADY!"

Hunter looks up, slowly.

"Yes... you... are... my brother... I'll prove it to you."

Damn tunnelvision of his... He didn't even catch a WORD of Grey's speech because he was focusing solely on Grey's first sentence...

"Come on... I can still take you... Do your worst..."

Hunter stands up, with difficulty, and focuses Autistic Energy in his hands... Then the energy takes the form of fireballs, which he holds, ready to throw.

"We gonna continue the battle or what? *cough* C'mon, attack me."

I sighed... You just couldn't reason with this boy. Here I was, trying to help heal him of the wounds he had inflicted upon himself, and he was ready and waiting to pelt me with fireballs... Why couldn't he get it?

"Hunter, you're not going to be able to harm me by conventional means... I keep trying to tell you that. Go ahead, throw a million fireballs at me, if you have to. I'll give you that I've got a weakness, but Autistic energy, fire, ice, lightning... That's not it. It's something more."

He wasn't listening. Here I was, practically giving him the answer and he still refused to acknowledge it. That was one of my pet peeves, when people didn't take me seriously. I guess now was about the time when I decided going on the offensive might be a good idea, so I reached into my pocket, and I pulled out a pencil. That'd do pretty well for the time being. A simple notepad, located in one of my pockets, and I was off to scribbling, a quick litany to keep him occupied...

Man, I wasn't even paying attention to anything else at this point. I didn't have anything rolled up: No character sheets, no nonweapon proficiencies, no broad or tight groups, I didn't even know my own hit point total. I just sorta assumed it didn't exist, actually. And then there was THAC0... But that was speaking in D&D terms. I just had to keep Hunter going.

The scribble was almost done. I laid it on the ground when I finished it, and then I snapped my finger, watching as the words I had written came to life. They swirled off of the page, and floated in the air for a few seconds, before forming themselves into what I guessed was a rather large boombox. That'd do. I fished a pair of quarters out of my pocket, and deposited them into a small slot on the side of the sound reproduction device. Just a few more seconds, and suddenly, the speakers on it barked out the words loudly enough so that anyone in the arena could hear it perfectly over the restless commotion of the audience...

Boombox: DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION!!!"

Perfect.

OOC: Ugh, I don't like the way this battle's turning out...

Hunter dissolves the fire.

"Grrr... Grey... C'mon. Do me a favor. Free me from my shackles of reality and allow me to actually have a real spar with you. I don't want to think today... I just want to battle. Even Dracoon could understand that kind of feeling."

He doesn't attack yet.

Corbin shifted uncomfortably in his seat. There wasn't any cooperation with this battle - one person wanted to fight, and the other wanted...er, something else. If the two didn't agree on a place to take this plot, then the thread would surely be doomed die, sticky or not. Personally, he wasn't sure he liked what Grey was doing. Excellent defenses were good, but to be entirely fair, they ought to have an obvious weakness, and Corbin just couldn't see what it was. Also, near-invincibility had a knack for limititing what the opponent could do, shortening their arsenal and creativity dramatically.

Then again, it was only 17 replies into the battle, and a lot could happen.

OOC: Jeez, man, I'm not god-modding... God-modding would be hitting you with an unstoppable superattack. I'm just trying to give you a set goal to work with. You wanna go conventionally, then we will.

"Fine. Your funeral." I said with moxie... I hit another button on the boom box.

"SELECT A STYLE!"

And another button...

"SINGLE PLAY! SELECT DIFFICULTY!"

And one last button...

"HEAVY MODE!"

I scrolled through my choices, and found one that I knew would be very good for the current situation. All that I needed to do now was get Hunter to stay still... And be knocked flat on his back. But how to do that, I wondered...

......And grinned. Slapping my hands together, I felt the familiar transmutating heat that accompanied the electricity of alchemy. I placed my hands on the ground, and the bolts of light charged through the ground at Hunter. When they reached his feet, slabs of marble grew like ropes out of the ground, attempting to bind him flat on his back to the floor. I could only hope this would work.
