Wow. Looks great so far! Keep up the awesome work!! Can't wait for the final draft and the Block Tool add-ons! I also noticed that in slippery levels sometimes Mario pops out and you can't move him. I don't know if anyone picked that up, but I guess it's another bug that needs to be fixed. Still looking great tho! Keep it up!

I don't know how you plan to fix it... Mario's touching two corner pieces, both telling him to move a different way.

What would be really cool is a "T" pipe. It would be a vertical pipe that connects to the MIDDLE of a horizontal pipe. Then when mario got to the middle intersection, the player would have to press left or right to indicate the direction that wants to be travelled. But first you should fix the bugs that are in the current cornors.

Since these pipes don't work very well underwater, do they still work under icy conditions? Just wondering. I can't wait for the bug free final versions!

That is a cool idea. If mikey doesn't do it, I just might.

A secondary version of that where it would choose direction randomly would be cool too

Let's say I make this pipe:

The arrows indicate how it currently works.
Now my question: How can I make the pipe move Mario like this?

Is this even possible with the current setup? I remember a pipe that worked like the second pic in Demo World's desert-world...

I found a bug, it's scrolling related, and in this particular case I doubt it's fixable.

If you go through a pipe in an autoscrolling level, the game freezes.

That's all.

Why the hell would you put those pipes in an autoscrolling level!?
I think it may be because two things scrolling at once mess things up a bit. You know how the game kinda pauses when you use the pipes? Maybe that's why?

The pipes should be useable under all conditions. Even if it is stupid and makes no sense. Pipes in an auto scrolling level would be great I think. I have a question that would be great if someone tested out:

How do the pipes work in no vertical/horizontal scroll levels? Cause the screen HAS to scroll doesn't it? Does it freeze the game? Work fine? I would test it but I'm lazy.

The pipes scroll Mario, and Mario scrolls the screen. I put a horizontal pipe on layer 2 and made it so layer 2 doesn't move, so I entered the pipe, and then the pipe started scrolling across the level with mario in it, because it was making mario scroll, which was making layer 1 scroll and layer two be constant with the screen, so mario wasn't moving anywhere, at least relative to the pipe. When it got to the end of the level, layer 1 stopped scrolling and the pipe spit mario out of the other end. It gave the effect that Mario entered the pipe, it moved to the end of the level, then it exited him there. I don't know why the game would freeze in autoscrolling levels, because on levels with layer 1 autoscrolling, Mario doesn't make the level scroll, so the pipes should work. Although it may be an issue of everything but Mario freezing, and possibly the freezing doesn't mix with autoscrolling all too well...

Awsome work MikeyK, I'm glad I saw this demo. My suggestion for the ice and water levels glitch is to load the current values for those settings into RAM, and then while mario is in the pipe set it so the game acts like a regular level, then restore the settings when mario exits the pipe.

When you say the game freezes, what exactly do you mean? Like everything stops completely, it crashes, or it just hangs there with the music and animation still playing but doesn't do anything? If it's just hanging there, it's probably just because the auto-scroll code and the pipe's scroll code are fighting.

You could always disable auto-scroll until Mario exits the pipe, too.

Working in autoscroll levels would be so awesome. You could create a scrolling level using the FAST setting where you'd have to jump through pipes really fast otherwise you'd scroll right into a pit or spikes or something.

MikeyK really went above and beyond the call of duty with these. Go him.

It would be awsome, GP. All I think you would need to do is take the actions HH and I prescribed, and it should fix the glitches with the pipes.

Listen, DF. I can't even do a JML or JSL without having Super Mario World crash miserably. I'm just going to have to wait with everybody else on this one.
