After an inspired thought in the Ico thread, I call you all to discuss your favorite endings to games, ever. For me, it's Ico. Spoiler: When Ico jumps over the gap to be with Yorda, he misses, and she catches him! Oh my god! *sniff* After 15 hours of Ico catching Yorda, she catches Ico! And then she puts him on a boat! And then she's washed up, with that mysterious final line... I think I'm gonna cry |

Final Fantasy IV was probably one of the most satisfying endings, from a Final Fantasy game. Spoiler: All the characters became royalty, Kain went off to train and become a new person for the evil that he had done. And is it just me, or did it seem like IV hinted at a possible sequel? The ending just seemed to loosely suggest it. Spoiler: Link to the Past's ending is always nice too, saving Hyrule and restoring the Golden Land. - EDIT: USE SPOILER TAGS / max (edited by Xeomega on 07-01-05 04:09 PM) (edited by max on 07-01-05 06:07 PM) |

I haven't seen many endings because I suck at videogames. Well, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance definitely had an interesting twist at the end. Spoiler: traitorous lizardman bastard. but that wouldn't be the best one. I suppose the 'best' one would be FFT. Left quite a few questions unanswered... and strangely, I like that. I like being forced to think about things, rather than having them explained to me. And yet, even though it didn't answer everything, it still seemed like an ending, unlike Halo 2's. Anyway, that's all, I suppose. - EDIT: FIX YOUR LAYOUT TO WORK WITH SPOILER TAGS / max Edit: Hey, it works in IE. - Tamarin (edited by max on 07-01-05 06:08 PM) (edited by Tamarin Calanis on 07-02-05 06:01 PM) |

Ive beaten so many games and seen so many endings that its a really tough call. I have to say the most recent spectacular ending Ive seen is Ico. I really liked the Kingdom Hearts ending, along with the secret ending it burst the door open for a sequal. |

Metroid Prime's ending was awesome. Spoiler: The samus hand being formed out of Metroid Prime's goo, just creepily fantastic I agree with Xeomega on LTTP. |

Terranigma's ending is one of the best (and saddest) endings I've ever seen for any game. The ending of StarTropics 1 (NES) was also very good for its time. |

If by 'China' you mean that Middle East village you wake up in at the start of Chapter 3 (Lhasa), then I'd say you're about halfway through the game. Still quite a lot to go.. I'm playing through the game again because I missed a lot of the town expansion stuff.. (edited by Proto K on 07-01-05 07:14 PM) |

That does sound somewhat familar, I think before it there was something to do with a Lion. That, or I'm seriously mixing Terranigma up with some other game. Either way I should really go back to play that game, or finish Illusion of Gaia at least (just hasn't grabbed my attention really). (edited by Xeomega on 07-01-05 07:16 PM) |

Earth. Freaking. Bound. One of the best game endings to one of the best games. I love it. Sadly, it's been so long that I don't even remember it that much. I just know it ruled. Secret of Evermore is also awesome, especially if you wait a bit after it gets to "THE END." That part is funny, yet disturbing sorta. And, finally (because I'm too lazy to continue thinking up games), Chrono Trigger. Yeah, maybe the ending itself isn't spectacular, but I'm sorta counting the entire end thing, including the final battle. Killing Lavos fucking rules. (edited by TheCube on 07-02-05 10:21 PM) |

Flood. Hell yeah. After surviving a million lethal traps and next-to-impossible manuevers, our hero finally manages to get out of that hellish cave he spent the entire game in. Fresh air. Finally! ...then he's run over by a car. The end. |

Originally posted by Xeomega Yeah. I think you had just revived humans. Were you up to a part where you had to follow/lead a lion cub around a canyon? Or was it in Tokyo, where a little girl gets stuck in the sewers, and you find the lion cub you helped earlier in your quest about to eat the girl? That game is one my my favorites. Your decisions can alter cool stuff in that game. |

I like the programmers ending in CT, cause it's great fun and unique. The ending to RE is really funny, cause, well, Leon says No which I was really hoping he wouldn't cause I'd love to see how that would've gone. FFT had a pretty sweet ending too. Also, EB is awesome, everything about it is great, BOING. | |||

Megaman 7. Hells yeah. Spoiler: After Wily's last ship explodes, he falls to his hands and knees and says, "Alright Mega Man, you win. Sorry for all the trouble. I'll go quietly." At this point, Mega Man charges up his mega buster and says, "I don't trust you Wily! I gonna do what I should have done years ago!" Wily backs up saying, "You forget, Mega Man! Robots can't harm humans!" Mega Man quits charging and says, "I am more than a robot! Die, Wily!" At this point, an alarm goes off and part of the ceiling falls, pinning Wily to the floor. A small piece then bonks Wily on the head. Treble comes down, barks, and teleports Wily out. At this point, Bass appears and says, "Too late, Mega Man! He who hesitates is lost! We shall return!" Then he also leaves and the alarm sounds again. The credits will roll, during the credits we see each boss robot Mega Man faced in the game, along with its designer and number. The last 2 to be displayed are Bass and Treble. At the end of the credits, the view goes to the sky where a shooting star can be seen, then back down to Big Eddy's. Mega Man goes inside and a photo is taken. Beat flies, Rush yawns, and Auto (with his hyperbolt in) puts up his fan for the photo, which has a red dot like the Japanese flag. Best. Megaman ending. Ever. |

Actually... Spoiler: In the japanese ending to Megaman 7, Megaman doesn't say "I am more than just a robot!" He just stands silently, knowing there's nothing he can do to stop that rule. It's a simple mistake that the american translators put in that's caused so many disputes in message boards relating to the megaman/megaman X connection story across the internet. God damn you, Capcom of America. God damn you. |

Thanks for clearing that stuff up, Clockworkz and Grey. Megaman 7 is the only Megaman game besides X7 and X8 I haven't beaten, now I feel ... more complete. ... I guess? |

Mine has to be final fantasy 7 ending. It left room for a misunderstood ending. Not all was known about what actually happen. I felt forfill with its ending however. I also liked MGS 1 ending pretty nice. Kinda made me sad yet forfill again. I have played any of the other MGS games yet, I've no money :p |

Final Fantasy 9 had a great ending in more ways than one. Spoiler: Basically Zidane goes back to rescue Kuja (His 'brother'... evil) from the depths of the Iifa tree. It turns out that they both get stuck there while the rest of your party escapes for the better. Afterwards it goes into the traditional "What are your party members doing afterwards" cutscenes. At the very end, another play is being put on for Garnet, now queen of Alexandria. The play goes on as normal, and at the very end, who pops up on stage, other than Zidane! Garnet rushes down, loses her amulet, but goes on anyways. Its the traditional guy gets girl type thing, but it just had a place of greatness in me I jst loved it. FFX was the most emotional ending ever EDIT: FIX YOUR LAYOUT TO WORK WITH SPOILER TAGS / max (edited by max on 07-11-05 02:35 PM) |
