| Definitely not as bad as the critics said. I honestly thought it was a good movie, but it was lacking from Spielberg. The character development is horrible, most of the characters throughout this entire movie you won't even care about, even the character Tom Cruise played was bad, in my opinion. Still though, the scenery in the movie was nice to see, and if you really thought about it it could seem pretty scary. Expect some freaky music from John Williams himself also. An overall good movie I'd say, I'd probably give it a 7 out of 10. If you're a sci-fi fan of any kind, I recommend checking it out. Side Note: My friend kept on complaining that the alien vehicles were a rip-off of the Striders from Half-Life 2.  |

Hmm, well now that i've heard a review from an actual life form (critics suck  ) I might go check it out. Surprised to hear that Spielberg was a lackluster in this one, oh well. |

| Yeah, it just wasn't his best. Still, I'd say it's worth seeing. Funny though, there are some moments in this movie that reminded me of Jurassic Park. But honestly this movie is pretty suspenseful, and scary, at least I thought it was. I just wouldn't know what I'd do if something like this really happened. |

| Saw it last night, I thought it was good. Great special effects and the music was really good. Although, I agree, the characters weren't that great... I thought it did have a good story line, but.. i reccomend picking up the book too... Go check it out. |

| The theory I have is that the aliens had AIDS. That's what killed them. The aliens were gay Arabs trying to stop democracy, so they started crashing planes. But God doesn't like gays, or Muslims, so God had the aliens destroy the Catholic church in New York and then he gave the gay alien arabs AIDS. Beyond the tripods, the movie sucked. Worst ending ever. |

| I seriously don't think it was anything "horrible" but ... (the ending). Spoiler: If the aliens would have planted those machines, wouldn't those aliens have died quickly themselves? | What bothers me is... Why would the aliens even bother to check if anything was in the house with their little telescope thing, they could of easily flattened the house without any problem like they had been doing for the rest of the movie. Other then that it was okay. Nothing great IMO but okay. |

| Fudging. Awesome. Movie. I loved every bit of it. The suspense, the story - and I don't know why you guys didn't, but I cared about the characters. I think they were pulled off well. The tripods were freaking tight. I loved how they vaporized the people, and their clothes went flying into the air! What really got to me in this movie was the panic that the situation induced to the population - I mean, people just went crazy, like in that seen where they're driving through the mob of people, and the boat scene. 'Sides, it allowed for a pretty suspenseful scene, when the characters were moving around the basement, trying to stay out of sight. The only thing that bugged me was how the aliens died. I mean, yes, it makes perfect sense, but why would they let that happen? I would think that rule 101 of exploring foreign planets would be to wear space suits for protection, ya know? |

And then a giant flaming piece of alien war machine comes barrelling into the hill and a gigantic cataclysmic blast takes place. It wipes out thousands of soldiers, but not the kid. Even if there isn't many things that is common with the orginal, save the ending and the "Axe scene". |

| I saw the movie today. It was great apart from the end...it sucked like shit. It seemed lame and pissed me off alot. It was full of suspence and action but there were part which also annoyed me. The acting was great, i believe i would of acted similar in the sitution The little girl screming was so damn annoying and her constant questions, i wish she died. The son of tom was a stupid part of the movie, i also wish he died. I don't understnd how he survived and how he got to boston before tom and co. The house seemed to drag on, it was great but seemed tedious. The guy in the house was so damn funny to. He just seemed like joke. 1 min he would have an axe, the next he would have shot gun. The mchines also looked like a rip of Striders from hl2. Cool though. Why did the shields fail when too? Also why when they turned humans into fertiliser did it to weed that was alive? I actully changed my mind bout the film now...i hated it after writing this. It sucked, i can even remember why the alien invaded. Also if the aaliens planted the machines underground why didn't we dectect them? Why didn't the people run away when they saw the mchine rise. I such as would. Alot of people just stayed aand wtched.
