Hey, I'm new to the forum and I'm interested in rom hacking. I read that all newbie topics are to be in this forum, so that's why this isn't in rom hacking. To be specific, I want to edit the graphics of SNES roms. I started by dowloading those tile editors, but they give you those garbled colorful tiles that I have no idea what to do with. I tried to figure out how to edit the tiles so that I ended up with coherent results, but I soon realized that it'd be too complicated for the large scale thing I want to do. I basically want to skin a whole game. Or at least, most of the graphics. The game I want to edit is Tetris Attack. Is there any program that ungarbles the tiles for you and then regarbles them once you're done editing? Or perhaps a guide that's simple enough for a moderately computer-savvy 6-year-old with ADD? I tried to look at guides, but all I found was inconsistent information and a lot of hexidecimal numbers. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think you misunderstand...the newbie forum is for new members to introduce themselves to the board. Other threads do not belong in the newbie forum. It's not a place where all your threads have to go until you reach a certain post count.

I will consider this thread to be your introduction thread and leave it here, but if you want romhacking questions answered, you may want to post your specific questions in the romhacking forum.

Hello and welcome to Acmlm's. It is impossible to leave.

True true true, and also. It is not forced to post a thread in here. However it is... reccomended that you do.

And welcome to the board. Good luck on your graphics hacking.

Doesn't have to run. :\ As far as we're concerned, this ends up being his newbie thread. Like it or lump it.

Welcome.

Hello there.

I am also a Rom hacker, but I don't hack gfx so I can't help you. But I believe you'll find the answer if you give it heart. Have a great time posting here!

P.S. Check out my Profile if you would like some of what others call "the best level hacks on the Board". I'm serious, they said that! (I still can't believe it... *blushes*

Yes, someone slap me hard for bragging.)
