Kitten Yiffer has a point, but that doesn't mean that in the future even with this 'technology' that surgeries will be any safer.

they may not be safer, but if the person dies, say just before surgery, then they can do this, and possibly correct what killed them, since they were just about to correct it anyway, this way the person has another chance when they could have lived if surgery began earlier. oh, and just think, if it was fake, the research center would most likely get their funding pulled for certain research, since they lied about something like this, so I believe them...maybe soon we will see more proof. The Moon gets way too hot during the day, way too cold during the night, and isn't that big. |

even so, for the technology we have right now, it wouldnt be practical to send people to mars...it would just take to long, and would require several trips for a couple thousand people, it would be a better choice however, if we had faster and biggers ways to travel in space.

I didn't think of that before. Defeating death (so to speak) using this method would still increase the population on earth...hmm...

Then again, we could bring the smart people back to life and hope to the heavens that they don't lose their theories for population control. I'm less afraid of dying now.

ok they can do it with dogs, but they will most certinaly not be able to do it with humans, once a human is dead only the body dies and the consciousness goes to a new body in heaven (if you repent all your sins). This experiment proves that animals are just programmed by god and dont have a consciousness. |

I believe they will be able to...and what if they can, then what? does that prove that your consciousness stays on earth, and we just wander as ghosts, or maybe theres a period of time, where we just wait for something after we are dead

The term "zombie dog" is misleading, and quite irresponsible wording of a news article writer to use. Death is a gradual process, it is not by any means instant. Clinical death is announced when the patient is unconscious and the doctors decide that there is no medical method they can do to prevent the patient from actually ceasing to live. But if a new medical method is invented (such as the one described in the article), then the definition of "clinical death" changes. The definition of actual death is when all the cells of a (previously) living being fully cease all growth and activity. This dog was not actually dead, just clinically. There is a big difference, and I hope people understand this.

94rf1eld, you may not be entirely correct. Unless I missed something, they never verified that these dogs still had all their memories. Animals clearly do have a conciousness, either way...

I'd be reluctant to be brought back, if this technology ever became big. I mean...I believe in an afterlife...and coming back to like after being dead for a while would be strange, especially if you had memories of the afterlife. Not to mention it's just weird. Though, I guess it would be fun to brag that you were undead. |
