That's right... It's the time of the year again that the bill is released. It doesn't look like me and Chad will be going all weekend... 50cent and The Streets look likely to put us off seeing Green Day. It stinks that 50cent should be invited to a rock festival. Nobody going will want to see him. Oh well, here goes: Friday 27th August 2003 THE DARKNESS THE OFFSPRING ASH THE HIVES Saturday 28th August 2003 THE WHITE STRIPES MORRISSEY THE LIBERTINES FRANZ FERINAND Sunday 29th August 2003 GREEN DAY 50 CENT Plus Special Guests LOSTPROPHETS THE STREETS Me and Chad decided we'd go for the whole weekend if either Muse or AFI were announced, and sadly neither have been confirmed. If they do appear, I'll pay to even see them on two seperate days. Here's the bill for the Sunday that we went last time: Dillinger Escape Plan Raging Speedhorn Amen Hundred Reasons Puddle of Mudd NOFX Slipknot The Offspring Prodigy (please note that these are mentioned in order of playing. Headliners are at the bottom) (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 04-08-04 09:02 PM) (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 04-08-04 09:03 PM) (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 04-08-04 09:04 PM) (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 04-08-04 09:05 PM) |

NOFX was in 2002 I forgot to add Incubus to the Sunday 2002 list Reading is my hometown. It's probably the most famous rock festival ever, if you exclude original Woodstock. |

That sounds SO COOOOOOL! AFI would be better though.. Anyway, woah. I wish I lived there Me wants to go! And thats right, 50 cent should NOT be invited. Lostprophets, oohhhh.. The big rock festival we have here in Aussieland is The Big Day Out. Didn't get to go though =\

It'll lead to problems. Either 50cent will be bottled off, or all his fans will pile in just for his set and then leave, making the festival ground even more overcrowded than it already is. And I thought NOFX sucked, he talked way too much and hardly played any songs.

Well, there's still room for more acts each day, right? 4 a day doesn't sound so good... I always viewed 50 Cent as a one-hit wonder. |

Colleen: Yup. We're waiting for the second stages to be announced now. AFI played a great set last year apparently, headlining the second stage on Saturday. Tinzee: There are indeed... We also have Glastonbury and Download Festivals. Download has had the following confirmed: Korn Metallica Linkin Park Sum 41 Slipknot Slayer Cradle of Filth Not exactly my favorite bands in the world... The only band I'd be interested in seeing is Linkin Park, who came to Reading last year. |

Originally posted by Colleen AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Um, you don't know much about rap do you Colleen? He's been out for years and he has SEVERAL hits. Anyway, 50 Cent (and other rap artists) qualify as rock stars. Hmm, besides Fiddy, the only people who I'd want to see would be Franz and Morrissey. And if it was Lost Prophets before their new cd, I'd want to see them too. The rest of the bands are pretty much teh sux. (Granted I haven't even heard of a few of them.) |

What???!!? 50 Cent is NOT a rock star! The term gets thrown around and misused alot these days. By my definition, if they don't have set of drums, a bass and a guitar, then they're not rock |

Then why are RUN DMC known as the kings of rock? Rock isn't a type of specific music, it's a type of musical lifestyle.

I've never, ever heared of Run DMC used in that phrase before... I've heared Queen, Rolling Stones and the Darkness, but never Run DMC Rock is a genre, just like Rap, Hip Hop and Dance. There isn't any way that you could classify Run DMC or 50 Cent under rock |

Heh, when I read the thread title, I thought this was about reading books or something and I was like wtf. :o But that's cool, I've only been to like 2 or 3 concerts in my life, I'll probably go to more when I get older.

You've never heard of RUN DMC before? Anyway, I might have worded it wrong. So I'll say this: They don't make rock music, but they're rock stars. |

Eh, No I know who Run DMC is, and that's why I know that the closest they came to rock was "Walk This Way" with Aerosmith I think I know what you're getting at... "Rock Star Lifestyle" is what you're refering to. That's refering to the sex, the drugs and the rock'n'roll. That still doesn't make them rock stars |

I've never even HEARD of this. I thought this thread was going to talk about some book convention or something. I haven't been to a show in quite a while. Not since KMFDM went on tour a few years ago.

Haha, Leeds doesn't even have half the history Reading does Literally For everyone who pronounces it the same way as in reading a book, it's pronounced "Redding" (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 04-09-04 06:38 PM) |
