Note: There is no demo I have decided to release some screen shots of a few completed levels from my hack. I am just looking for comments on them, ways to improve, and errors that you see; not flames. Really sorry that they have to be linked, but they are quite large in dimentions. They are PNG, and around 60kb to 100kb. Here they are: Thornwood Swamp Forest Stump Thornwood 4 Random Forest Level Forest Level Flooded Cave Secret Area Frozen Cave My Space Tile Set A Castle (not likely to EVER find this in the game, but it's there) For the space tileset, the enemies will be edited so they are more suited for space. The volcano lotus will be mechanical, and blend into the ground looking like little metal gysers. The koopa's will be in suits. The goomba's will be cyborg goombas. The ninji's will have suits on. And mecha-koopas may just be a palette change, not sure yet. So I'm looking for your comments and suggestions. |

It all looks alright, but some things look a bit bland... For example, the stumps in Forest Stump don't really look like stumps. You should try to add in some more texture... The levels themselves look good, though. (edited by Imajin on 06-28-05 02:55 PM) |

Very, very nice, some problems though. Stump: Rings don't look real. Thornwood: WTF are those green and blue things? Random Forest: Those block sprites might not trigger way up there. Ice Cave: Ground looks like crap. Space: Needs computery stuff in the background. (Can I use it when you add that? ) Castle: Ehh, why is there a big hole in the castle? LOVE the BG and Yoshi coin in Forest Level BTW. |

They look great, and I think that you should put the castle in, because it looks professional. I like them, and yeah, they're great. Put a bit more into the larger trunks, and it'll rock. my only concern is in the space cestion, mario will be invisible coming out of the pipes if the metal BG is on layer 1, with the moon and stars on layer 2. | |||

Thanks guys. @Imajin: I know the stumps aren't that great. I can't add anymore to the ExGFX file tho. (I do have one I can use, but I really need that for something else in the level). I will change the swirl part so that it's rings instead. @lags_80: Ya, the yellow isn't that great. I will dull it down a bit. @HyperHacker: Rings will be fixed. The green and blue things are susposed to be tarps of some sort. They are there so I can include coins and blocks and stuff like that and still have rain in the level. I have a thunder/lightning sprite, a background, FG and rain, so I couldn't pt rain on layer 2. The blocks in Random Forest Level do work, it's been tested. I only posted this one for comments on my custom FG. Ice Cave ground isn't being changed. I like it, thats what matters. Computer stuff is a good idea. Flashing buttons and stuff. I just don't want it to look like BMF's to much. The big hole is..umm...just there. I wanted some varity cause the tower is pretty high. Platform jumping does get boring after a while. @Darkflight: The castle will be there. Just as a VERY hidden secret level that only hackers can get too. May be a bad idea, but thats how its going to work (hints are provided thru the game, and if you get them all, then you can get to the castle. It's not really going to be that hard...). And mario isn't invisible when coming out of the pipes, it's been tested also. Thanks for the comments everyone! |

I wouldn't make it that you have to hack the game, but make it a secret exit that's bascially impossible to find without the hints. And a big hole going right through the tower like that just doesn't make sense. It ruins the realistic feel. |

Screen 1: Beautiful BG and the YI stones also look great, the goombas are a bit ugly, and why does the pirhana plant have a fish on it? Screen 2: The stumps are a bit too big and distracting, the the BG and the tree leaves look cool. Screen 3: No complaints here, the rain looks really cool and I like your usage of the YI ghosts and phantoms, nice job here. Screen 4: Another awesome BG, the ground rocks and flowers from YI look great as well. Screen 5: That mouse mechanism over there looks pretty cool, is that supposed to be a tail on it though? I think the BG is too light though, it actually looks as if the BG isn't really there in the game, it looks like a painting or drawing in the BG. Screen 6: Looking good, I like all the bones, skulls, and mouse holes in the ground. Screen 7: I have to agree with HH, the ground does look like crap. They're just little strips of ice over some parts of the ground. I think it'd look better if you added a solid block of ice over the ground, and at the bottom of the ground blocks have small icicles sticking out. Screen 8: The floor and wall gfx look pretty plain, but I like the moon in the BG. Screen 9: Pretty good, nice windows. I'd add a bit more detail to the bricks though. Overall good job! I'm looking forward to playing a demo. If you need any beta testers, remember my name . |

This hack is looking awesome, Kei! You really have a way with YI graphics. The last two screenshots suspiciously seem like you stole some of BMF's graphics and tweaked them, though. Also the part about koopas in suits and cyborg goombas. Overall, very good job. I expect a demo soon. |

The space set looks nothing like anything I have seen in BMF's hack. I remember seeing a space theme in the game, but mine were completly hand done one night. I am aware that the castle graphics look like BMF's tho. His has 3 shades per block, mine has 5. Not much of a difference, but its there. I will probably just change them all together so they don't remind me (or others) of BMFs game. I don't want people thinking that I stole them. But thanks for the comments. If you want a game that has incredible YI rips, go check out Ice Mans hack. It's posted here at this board, and it is amazing. EDIT: Were there cy-borg goombas too?! I remember the space suit koopas, but mine will be NASA suits with transparent helmets (I don't think his were). There isn't really anything else they can be chnaged too. Well, there were cyborg Chargin' Chucks in BMF's hack. And Trashy had Koopas in space suits. And those awesome robot spinys... Aw, man. Now I'm all depressed because BMF hasn't released a demo in a long time. |
