Paul Winchell, voice actor for many many roles has died. RIP man. His roles included Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, Gargamel from Smurfs, Zummi from Gummi Bears, among others. MSN story, because I can't find it anywhere else.

That is terrible indeed, the man was oozing with talent.
Tigger was O.K. but Gargamel was and still is my absolute favorite.
I've vowed to name my first born son Gargamel, because it is the coolest name, and it's only been used ONCE in all of history to my knowledge.
If it's a girl though... maybe Gargette...

They still make Winnie the Pooh cartoons and movies still don't they?
He shall be hard to replace.

I just heard some sadder news. John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet, died a day later. Coincidence?

anyways, they had to pass away at some point...the Winnie-the-pooh francise will never be the same again

Apparently a world where the elderly die.

He hasn't voiced ALL of the Tiggers and Piglets, ahaha. The movies and all will continue just fine.

Tigger was my favorite when I was little. Just a few days ago my mom threw out all of my old stuffed animals, including Tigger.

Of course they will. Jim Cummings is already doing a good job as a replacement for Pooh and Tigger. They'll be able to find a guy for Piglet.

Well, that's pretty sad. I never really watched the shows/movies, but it's still a bit depressing.

Winnie the Pooh was Disney's greatest franchise. It even beat Mickey Mouse (hang on, does anybody even give a shit about Mickey Mouse?). But I'd put the success down to not only the great artwork and stories, but the amazing voice acting.

I watched a bit of the Winnie the Pooh film yesterday. There's something odd about listening to the recording of a voice whose speaker is now dead.

Yeah, kinda like watching Looney Toons cartoons in which Mel Blanc would do every bloody character in them, you almost start thinking he must've died from a throat explosion. Shame he didn't have a pack of Loony Tunes in his pocket.

With Cummings doing the Tigger voice, you wonder what Winchell would make of it, knowing that he had lost the thing that made Tiggers wonderful in the first place.

I remember reading about this not that long ago. It's a shame right up there with the death of Rodney Dangerfield. I remember when I was little I used to watch the winnie the pooh cartoon and loved the hell out of it, though sometimes it was kind of creepy scary...

The last of his voice I ever heard was about 6 months ago when I was obessively playing Kingdom Hearts for the first time. Those tigger mini-games were HARD.
