Just wondering how many people have played this game?
(no i'm not talking about the 3D crap.)

I found out you can still download it! I've been playing it like crazy.

XP users will need a DOS emulater though. (i use DosBox google it).

I guess I've played the '3D crap'. I recall getting it with Voodoo card back when the 3D cards where all-new. What was the original game about? Sounds to me like a post-apoc game like Wasteland.

Heh, far from it. It's basically the original "artillery game." You know, those games where you pick an angle and a power, and shoot? Yeah. It's that. Except it owns. It's got tons of weapons, cash to buy them with, shields, parachutes, gas...you name it, it probably doesn't have it, but you'll be surprised at how awesome what it does have is.

Too bad there's no form of internet multiplayer. That would totally rock.

If you like Scorched Earth, you should check out Pocket Tanks (google it). It's sort of a modernized version. Less frantic feeling, but still a damned good game.

Same here. Also, since it won't work on winXP and I was like :'( I searched google and found a close spinoff. It's called Atomic Cannon. O_o

But nothing can replace the simplicity and fun of Scorched Earth.

Gorilla? Erm... Kinda in the choose angle and aim way, but that's about as far as the similarities would go. Scorched Earth is pretty much THE aim and shoot game, even now. (Well, that and Worms.)

The Mother of All Games? Who hasn't?

http://www.classicgaming.com/scorch/

I played that when I was a kid on my old 286. Nothing beat it out back then and nothing does now. I still think GB pales in comparison.

I remember finding that site after playing Scorched earth on my 486. It runs smoothly on my 486, and I was surprised that it did run without problems on my Win XP box. Without Dosbox or anything. With sound.

I remember getting my first computer back in like '93. That was the first game I had on my Windows 3.1 operated computer. And it was the best. (Along with Dune II and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego Deluxe)

Ah, yes, I remember Scorched Earth. I had it on my third PC growing up, and it was great. Hours of fun against the little brother

As for Worms, well.... Worms is truly great, yes, but it's not the original... it's not Scorched Earth.

Well I dont mean to compare Worms to SE, they are entirely different games. But SE came first (According to my resources )

But then again Worms has been going strong with a bazillion sequels.

I think I played it on my old Windows 2000 harddrive. I remember it being very fun, like Pocket Tanks without all the extra stuff. Its funny how these old classics get constantly reborn.
