I'm a little bit confused... i just played final fantasy 4 for a bit. then i tried final fantasy 2... but they're the same game... and for the same console?

Anyway to answer the question. Nintendo of American released Japan's FF4 as Ameirca's FF2. Japan's FF6 was also America's FF3. However. 4, 5, and 6 were released in America on one PSX disk..wit Chrono Trigger. These were the Japan 4, 5 and 6, so we really have 4 and 6 twice. It does not make sence but this is how it happened.

Yeah, and there some some members that what Nintendo did was ok. Nintendo did it pretty much for the purpose of trying to keep America in the dark about how many games there really were. And it would've worked too, if it weren't for that pesky Sony and their refusal to rename Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy IV!

As Nintendo did the translations for FF1, FF4, and FF6, Sony did the translation for FF7. It was up to Sony to continue the charade!
