Hey! http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html
This is a link to ArtRage, the program I use to create my 'virtual paintings.' It is more of a dumbed down version of Corel Painter, but its free!

Anyways, here's some of my works...

This was my first ever attempt with the program. I think it turned out quite nicely. Its called Mountainous Grasslands!

A reverse sequel of sorts to Mountainous Grasslands. This one is called Snowy Daze.

Ahh, yes. Here's one. Fleurs is a painting I used for a Mother's Day card.

This one is quite awsome. I just call it Tree.

My latest work of art. Arch In The Park was colored by single dots, a style used by real artists.

Thats all I'm gonna post here! If you wanna check out more of my stuff, go to http://www.snika.deviantart.com/. It won't have most of the stuff here 'caz the site has been acting weird lately.

Please post feedback and comments here!
Peace!

Hmm, I've not heard of "ArtRage" before, thanks for pointing it out. I can see that it IS a little painter-esque just from your art; nice to see another program that mimics paintbrush strokes well

I like the paintwork you've done on the sky and water in the first pic in particular for some reason. I also like your use of perspective in the dotted picture Although I find your comment about "real artists" kinda amusing

..jeeze you guys.

This took me a while too. I'm not much of an artist, but I've always especially sucked at painting. I thought a computer program would have it look better. That is not the case.
I am not five years old.

Actually, I have a tablet now so drawing makes it much easier. The rest the program makes up for, it's just plain old ease of use. Really nice actually, expecially for something that's only a 1.55MB downlaod

Edit: I'd try another but my tablet is pretty damn warm right now

Edit: Here's another.

Edit: And another

Is there a way to make this not full screen? It's annoying to navigate to other windows on my Mac.
Yarx, do you paint the whole background first and then the characters right on top of it? Or do you leave some blank space, knowing the sizes of what you're gonna make?

It depends on your style. I draw the foreground first, then put in the background, but I have to fix the lines in the foreground afterwards.
Try both ways and see which you like.
I also think it has to run full screen.

For these I painted the background first using the same/similar colors as the actual image. Then made the foreground next, that way I didn't end up with a seam between my image and the background. Works well for painting. And yes there is a feature in the program that uses an already existing image as a point of reference. This program is also included in Microsoft's Experience Pack for Windows XP Tablet Edition, which you can grab for free off their website.

When I make my Super Mario Art, I always draw the background first, even if it is just going to be covered up by the subject.

Keep up the good work, Yarx!
