OK, here we go...

An emulator is a program that allows you to play games designed for a specific system on your computer (or even another videogame system). For instance, if you wanted to play NES games on your PC, you would get a NES emulator for the computer. Roms are the games themselves. IF you wanted to play Super Mario Bros., you would need to find a Super Mario Bros. rom and load it with your NES emulator.

There are a variety of emulators available for free download on the Internet. There are also roms out there, but they're a lot more difficult to find.

To use your SMB3 editor, you need to find a SMB3 rom and load it with the editor, then you can alter the levels and such. To play your altered SMB3, you will need a NES emulator.

Hello and welcome to Acmlm's. It is impossible to leave.

Welcome to the board.
Zophar is a popular place to get emulators. Browse around the emulation forums, you'll learn a lot.

Well we can't provide roms because they are illegal. Just google them, it's not that hard. Also, since you seem to be interested in hacks, don't forget to get an IPS patcher, also found at Zophar..

Although this thread seems funny to me, in a way.

...You know, *if* I could IP check right now, I probably would. :\ Seems a little too fishy to me.

On the other hand, if those questions were real... um... you've been living under a rock. And welcome.

Hah, well I came here not knowing a thing about rom hacking, and after just learning how roms work. I firmly believed that a .nes and all of those rom files were only for PC, and I had to find special Mac versions that I never could. Finally someone told me I was a retard.

Anarchy Man; welcome to the board. I wish I could help with what you want to know, however, I'm not into rom hacking anymore. So yeah...
