::evil chuckle:: You'd be surprised how far my hack goes... Most people give out demo's, but mine is a full hack, from beginning to end.

This is quite fun so far, actually. A few graphics issues, but other than that.. nice. I'm on the second world. Kinda wish the overworld was modified more, but it was modified enough to be interesting. Having trouble finding a couple keys, though. =\ [Edit] Um. Hm. I'm at the midpoint or Mt. Fuji or whatever, and now I can't go up any further.. and there seems to be nowhere to go? Help? [Edit2] Nevermind. Tricky. [Edit 3] Where the hell is the key in the Bowser Island 3 level? I've noticed all of the pipes lead to bonus stages that you can't escape from... is it supposed to be this way? I really have no clue where it could be anymore. So you found the first glitch... I checked it and I somehow used the exit enabled pipes instead of regular ones. ::bangs head against desk:: The keyhole in Bowser Island 3, there is no key. That's just there to show the door is "locked". At the midpoint of Mt. Fuji (name of a mountain in Japan I think) a [?] block holds Yoshi. Get him, then "nab" the blue soldier virus walking on a land hedge, then the wings do the rest. This is the only tip I'll be giving for the Mt. Fuji level. Yea, I figured out the Mt. Fuji thing. I'm close to the end of the game.. I also can't find the key in the Crystal Caves level. =\ I need all four switches, and I imagine that that leads to one.. [Edit] Never mind. Found it. I guess I "beat" the hack, though... I doubt I got everything? No Bowser, but I'm not sure where I missed an exit.. there appear to be places on the overworld which I haven't explored, though. I'll look around later, I guess. ::give ominoius laugh, then stops:: Have anyone gotten to Special World, cause the game ends at the Special World Submap, the level called "funky" now changed to (deleted due to not wanting to give out spoilers) is the last level which will TEST your SMW abilities against (also deleted due to not giving out spoilers). Oh yeah, players, I hidden an "Easter Egg" in the game, but you'll have to find out who it is, and where he's located at. This is the only clue I'll give: "WWW" (edited by Forte.EXE on 06-24-05 08:52 PM) (edited by Forte.EXE on 06-24-05 08:53 PM) |

Yea, I beat the special world and got the ending.. But I figured that might not be it. Notably: a) The pyramid below world 4 castle is unused b) The bowser mouth statue thing is unused c) There appears to be a path going north from the ghost house in the forest world that I can't use... I think it appeared as a glitch. There are still a few minor pathing issues left over. At least, it's possible that I missed some of those dead-end levels? But maybe I did find everything, pretty much. Guess I'll look for the easter egg. (edited by hhallahh on 06-24-05 09:27 PM) |

Actually, I never got a chance. I guessed that blindly, because I cannot enter bowser island 1 or iggy's lab without the game crashing on me.

Okay... I finished this hack, I think, and I'll post a quick review. Just random thoughts. 1. The overworld was very nicely done. There seem to be some errors with the events (paths appear that shouldn't appear), but... mostly good. Actually, there was a ladder that appeared north of the ghost house in the forest world that I was never able to access... this is why I thought I might be missing something. But I guess not? 2. For the most part, the level design was good. It was interesting how... varied it could be. Some levels were quite short, and others were very long. A couple things I noted is that there were several stretches wherein there would be no real enemies or obstacles, which was kind of weird. Also, some levels had pretty much no powerups / coins whatsoever, which was definately a minus. 3. The graphics, for the most part, were nice... but there were honestly probably too many of them. I get annoyed when I'm unable to tell what kind of sprite a new enemy is based on, although maybe I shouldn't. In the internet world (which I thought was really neat, at least in a couple of levels), it would've been nice if the player were warned beforehand about the lava / instant death tiles. There were also a few graphics issues with the new sprites. Also, at times, you shouldn't have used black backgrounds... having a climbable fence thing on a black background is definately a bad thing, since the player will be unable to tell that it's a fence (I had trouble with this at one point.) Also, in the Bowser's Castle level with the shadow guards or whatever that automatically kill you... the black background makes it so you can't really see them, and it took me a while (and many deaths) to figure out exactly how they worked. Even despite its flaws, this is definately one of the better finished hacks out there... I'd rate it just a little below the Japanese hacks (Anitiki's and KT's) if I had to. I'd appreciate it if you finished filling out the questionairre for the "Completed Hacks Database" as well, because this should definately be in it. |

Mmm... is there a secret exit in Shinra Mansion S? I can't seem to find one. Edit: Also... is there a reason some levels are entirely devoid of enemies? o.O (edited by zztman on 07-02-05 12:42 PM) |

Well, this was a good hack. Operative word: "was". Until I got to the part with the Yu-Gi-Oh references. Ugh... seriously, you should NEVER have Mario and Yu-Gi-Oh within 50 feet of each other. Heck, you should never have Yu-Gi-Oh near anything... at least, the 4kids dub, anyway. This paragraph is an exception because it's the only way I can talk about it. Erk. |
