I checked Clank's profile...

Well, it causes youarelame.com to pop up, your CD drive to pop out...and crap like that. Uncool.

That was in his post header:

<body onload="window.open('http://youarelame.com/flood/')">

Hmm ... But I removed it now ...

It's times like these I'm glad I use the Google toolbar. Just for fun, I went to his profile and allowed pop ups, then I quickly disallowed them again.

I watched as the number of pop-up blocks just went flying. I now have 32086 blocked now.

Hmm, it didn't open a ton of popups for me ... just one that lagged for a few seconds and that I was able to close before anything else happened ... but it did open up my CD drive

And this is EXACTLY why I have IE set to prompt me on ALL instances of Active X scripting for any sites not in my trusted list. When I said, "No" to the prompt asking if I want to run Active X scripts, all I got was a blank page.

With SBC Yahoo's IE Browser, I got the same here.

Well then -- it's a good thing I didn't check that profile. Or else I'd be cursing my brains out wondering WTF is going on here. . .

Don't check Lihaed's profile either. They have crap in their header & sig that screw things up. Crashed my comp.

I think it's time to seriously consider making layouts be something that have to be earned, just like custom titles. Too many morons are abusing them.

ActiveX is a blessing and a curse...a curse mostly, but still...when used for good, ActiveX is a good thing

anyways, that stupid CD-ROM open trick was annoyed...it got to the point that I had to restart the computer at one point because so many IE windows popped up o

That sounds like a very good idea. 50+ posts for layout? Or even lower? I think 50 posts sounds right. You know that the person is probably not gonna become a retard by then

And this is EXACTLY why I have Mozilla which has no ActiveX support (which is good, nobody ever uses that for anything good) and Proxomitron for blocking all manner of popups, banners, etc. If I were to view the profile (had it not been edited out by now) all I'd get is a plain old profile, some popup code turned into useless code, and a coupla useless ActiveX tags.

It crashed Firefox for me, but never did anything bad on my computer.

Who is using ActiveX? Apart from Microsoft?

Sure I had pop-up blocking on, but I allowed Acmlm board to have pop-ups. That colour chart is an pop-up.

I went to Clank's profile before it was edited out. I got nothing.

Which is why I use Firefox.

I'm not using a third-party addon, and I like IE. You can say that Mozilla > IE until the day you die. Not everyone thinks so. Myself included.

Flash is considered Active X, and I've found that it has been used for good LOTS of times.

BTW: The image behind your text makes it hard to read your posts. I have to highlight it to see what you said...

He could use a 50% transparent PNG... it wouldn't be supported in IE (pretty sad that IE doesn't support the up-and-coming most popular image format, eh?). Oh well...

Flash is not ActiveX, I don't know where you heard that.
