Anyway, I changed it now, and I'm currently still thinking about another one that I could remember and that is hard enough to find

I can find it humourus to an extent, in threads where the immitation is meant to be. If the topic is bothersome, then avoid the thread, that's all I can say. Sometimes we all have to goof off a little, and even Acmlm himself partakes in the insanity.

But I'm very curious... At what point did it become "AOL-er" speak? I happen to be an AOL user since 1994, and I don't think I've seen anyone talk anywhere near something like that. In fact, a lot of the AOL users I've met seem to be well educated and computer literate people who can have intelligent conversation. I guess it's just a stereotype though. Not that I'm supporting AOL as a service or anything, I sill think (and always will think) Steve Case completely blows.

It's actually the overly-exaggerated 12-year old kiddie AOL-speak. You see, often, they say things like "wtf" and "lol" and "omg" and that, and they often are too lazy to spell out a word... so, naturally, we exaggerate it so that it sounds like every word they say is retarded... and there are a select few that talk damned close to that.

Well, if you do this, you'll have no problem:

1) Make it random (totally), like using acmlm's random name generator, set for 7-10 chars
2) Copy it into a text document in your documents folder (IE: Acmlm's Board's Password.txt)
3) Log in and don't log out

As long as you don't delete your cookies AND your password file, you won't have a problem, even if you DO, you can easily have your cousin change it for you!

The only reason that type of speak is related to AOL is that AOL is generally considered 'internet for dummies'. Of course, not *everyone* who uses it is an idiot...

I would rather say Overuse-of-abbreviation speak.

I think the term AOL speak comes from that people see it on AIM. But "Overuse-of-abbreviation" exists in other IM networks.

People who speaks AOL speak aren't idiots, they just don't know better. ~_~
