Not plasma or photon lasers, though. If they made those, that would be a lot scarrier.

Actually, a bunch of shit gets made because of us blowing each other up. Do you have any idea the kind of stuff we wouldn't have if it weren't for the military?

Also, the Greeks made flamethrowers as well. Damn, they kicked serious amounts of ass.

1 word.... Eratosthenes. This guy measured the circumference of the earth!!! WTF?!
Also, I'm a big fan of Archimedes. What a guy! I didn't know about the laser thing, but he did build large cranes to assault the Roman fleet. Coupled with catapults that launched boulders covered in flaming oily cloth (i.e. FIREBALLS!!!!). It's a testament to the horrible brute force of the Roman Navy that they actually won, because I'm sure he did a lot of damage.

It's kind of like every nerd's dream.....
(wavy dream sequence)
Ruler of Empire: Hey you! On the computer! We're putting you in charge of defending our nation! WITH GIANT FIREBALLS! Figure it out by tomorrow.
You: Niiiice.
