I made my 28th post today, and I looked at my profile and saw a rank not on the "Ranks".
It is called "Double Hammer". The picture of it is not shown.
I don't have 2000 posts, I'm not an administrator, so I can't have a custom rank.
Plus there is no rank for 28 posts.

Please check, or tell me if I have made a mistake.

(Edit)
Also 29. It's still there after this post.

When you made your 25th post, you got the rank called "Double Hammer". You'll keep that rank until you reach the next one, which is "Stone Axe" after 50 (total) posts. In other words, there's nothing wrong with the rank system.

The links to the images however, seem to be broken.

The GunBound rank set is not working because the server administrator disabled a feature that is used to produce the rank image. Your rank image is supposed to look like the third one from the bottom.

If you want to, you can pick another rank set. To do so, use the "Edit Profile" link at the top of the page.

Why doesn't it just use standard images like the others anyway?

Because its produced by a script Acmlm made for his Gunbound rank listings... I believe..

They did turn on that libary which made them work, but apparently it made the server unstable...

Thought there is a way to have thoose ranks without using the GD libary. It would need a rewrite thought...

Well all the other ranks don't need it. Assuming it's anywhere near decently set up it should just be like '# posts, name, image filename', so it's basically just a matter of splitting up the images and changing the filenames. Though I'm just assuming that's how it's set up.

I wonder if they ever will finish fixing that system? The majority of people are still using the numgfx layout, which doesn't work so well without it.

Since they aren't animated and all have the same size, it just seemed better to have them all in one image and use GD to get each of them ... that was also months before we lost GD here (which happened with a server move, over half a year ago now ).

The only way I can fix it (other than splitting them into separate images) is to make the script redirect to a copy on another server with GD enabled, which I did once but got overwritten back by one of Jesper's AcmlmBoard upgrades

status.php and activity.php are 2 other examples of why this board needs GD ...

Couldn't you do that for status.php and activity.php as well?

status.php and activity.php require access to the database to function. In order to move the image processing to another server, the data used to generate the images would need to be sent from a server that has access to the database.

It is possible that the server admin could allow the database to be accessed directly through the Internet by another server, but this is rightfully unlikely for security reasons.

A better way to provide status and activity images is to have a script on the main server that provides the data required to generate the image. The image links are pointed to a script on the image server that calls the script on the main server and uses the returned information to generate the image.

Another way is to have a script on the main server that passes on the request for the image to the image server along with the required data and passes the returned image back to the user. Image links would not need to be repointed, but performance would be slightly slower.

Regarding numgfx and the GunBound images, I'd point the image links for numgfx to Overclocked(if script generated images will not be blocked) or some other server and split up the GunBound ranks.

Acmlm, you mention activity.php and status.php, but you forget numgfx?
