Why would you do a" my.ini"? Wouldn't be a "my.sql" or "my.txt" file better?

if the file was my.sql, it would be a file for a DB. An ini file would alow it would be a file that runs with a program, or for a CD, one that will start the program on the CD

Or just use Notepad, select 'all files' and add '.ini' to the name.

A default MySQL installation or distribution of the MySQL sources should include a few different example configuration files with comments that should be easy to edit. You can also find plenty of official documentation on the configuration file itself. There's a reason config files in UNIX are all text files. |
