I always charge my SP when the light turns red. I have played with it red for 15 minutes or so, though.

I would freak out if my Ruby save got lost. I

Actually it's quite possible for the system to recharge a cart's battery as it runs. I don't know if they actually use rechargable batteries though, or if there's even enough power supplied to the cart to do so.

Well, there is a possiblity that they do that. But i'm quite sure it's not rechargable battery in the carts. And to be honest, I hadn't seen rechargable versions of thoose small batteries that they use in thoose carts.

I've never seen them either but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Still, I'll take a 99.99% reliable save file over a 30-character password anyday.

I've lost my Zelda II file from when I was little, but I can never remember if that's from my carelessness or if I just went and deleted it, being the annoying kid I am. I hated that game (Ganon ). My file on the first Zelda (well my mom's.. but I named it. Can you tell?), I took a picture of it about half a year ago.

That never died til my brother erased it recently.

LttP on my SNES erases too.. along with Super Mario World.

I used to leve mine on over night aand thats probs whaat broke it. Mine over heated and stopped workin. Also I never held the reset button down. Nothing bad ever happened

I've never held the reset when turning the power off. I have turned the power on and off and on and off quickly trying to get the NES to work ... But no negative effects from that.

Link to the Past has been my primary cause of frustration over the years when it comes to losing save games. It's because the board is kind of loose inside the cart.. It also doesn't want to work unless it's in the SNES at just the right angle. Oh well, I don't have to worry about that anymore since I've got the GBA port. The only other game that's given me any trouble save game-wise is Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land... And that's only when I was playing it via the Super Gameboy and left it in most of the time.

All my SNES games do that. Even a few N64 ones. The cartridge slots seem to come loose over time, and if they're not in at the right angle, blooie!

WTF? Cartridges are a lot more durable than discs. Discs are as good as ruined if you leave them out of their case, and the lasers and motors don't last nearly as long as a zero-moving-part chip.

Cartridges don't wear out - tell that to people who still have Atari 2600's with plenty of carts for the system. It would be a case of whether or not the battery fails, and its lifespan can vary.

Well, in my LttP's case, it has nothing to do with the battery. The battery is fine. It's more of an issue of the board being lose and not wanting to play unless at a certain angle. Often in the process of getting it to work, or if the SNES gets bumped and it moves out of alignment, the saves get wiped. As long as it was left in and not moved, there was no problem.

I think the biggest safety hazard comes from the Virtual Boy. You really had to follow the precautions and take breaks or your eyes would hurt.

Heh, with Startropics (which is a game with a battery) I can't remember ever seeing any message saying that I should hold down reset while turning power off. And I never had any problems saves being erased either.

I've never had any kind of sickness from games either. I would always stop to take a break when I came to a part I had trouble with, to do something else, and calm my nerves.
