I was worried about this one. But it turned out exactly as it should have: Worms, in 3D (shocker). Especially the landscapes... the deformation is great, the random generation is great, and the premade ones are really great (especially the one with the monkey). One review I'd read complained about the added difficulty and annoyance of platforming/jumping stuff, but I find it to be pretty similar to the 2D ones, surprisingly enough... I do have a few minor complaints. One, lots of weapons don't blast the environment unless they hit a worm or other damageable target... so, no more burrowing with the shotgun. Two, I don't know about the sticky bomb. It's cool, but it's effectively like the bazooka with no wind interference... it should be a bit more rare. Also, sometimes the worms take too long to die (the animations, I mean), and they should blast bigger holes when they do. Oh yeah, and the petrol bomb is kinda weak, since the flames are a lot sparser... that was one of the best weapons in Armageddon and World Party, heh. I'm really digging for those complaints. I wouldn't have thought it was possible, but it really is worms in 3D. And just like worms in 2D, it kicks ass. My team is Dead Guys, since my very first Worms game. We have Tupac, Biggie, Einstein, J.F.K., Zed (of Pulp Fiction), and Hitler. I get nice messages on my turns like "Hitler smells victory" or "Tupac surveys the scene" Pirate voices, of course, the Canadian flag, the Holy Hand Grenade as a special weapon, and the grey dual-angle pyramid (it has a name, I don't remember it) gravestone. I kick ass. Then there's the whole feature of being able to enter names as codes for generating landscapes. It's not that technically amazing; all it does is convert the letters into numbers, but it's fun fucking around with people's names and seeing what you come up with. "zeml 42" (lowercase like that) is a nice one. You can't fool me! I have 7668 posts for real, G! =o=o=o (edited by Zem on 04-01-04 06:40 PM) (edited by Zem on 04-01-04 06:42 PM) |

Yes, but the point is now it has traveled through a magical portal into the third dimension!!!!! And successfully! Oh, and another thing: the music kicks ass too. Plus the computer can bust out without taking forever to think like it did in the 2D ones, which could be construed as either a good or bad thing... I like it. What I've played of the campaign kicks ass too. I just did a gravedigging one. (edited by Zem on 04-01-04 06:49 PM) |

I am thinking about getting this game. I liked Worms Armageddon and World Party. Worms 3D looks cool. I saw this game on the creator's main site when they were still making it, and it looked awesome. The random map generator sounds cool! If I like a map, I can remember the name or numbers. |

Interestingly enough, "Earthbound" makes a great map. But change it to the "War" setting.

Couldn't you do the name-entry thing in the original Worms? Must get this... Worms rules, just a great action/strategy game. WWP was quite good. |

Ah yes, one thing you MUST do on Worms 3D is put the Welsh Soundbank on, firstly you'll get an idea of the way I'm supposed to talk and secondly, it's only there because I asked for it, no realy, I hang about on Team 17's board and when they were designing Worms 3D, they asked for some suggestions, mine was "A Welsh Soundbank" and there it is! No Welsh flag though. ALso, if you've a console version, it's apparently impossible to geta Concrete Donkey, shame as I REALLY wanted to see it in 3D Oh and about the Grave Digging Mission, did you know you can unlock a "Horror" soundbank? |

It's a bug in the console versions, they're not making a patch for it either Apparently it IS possible but the chance is very slim.

Settles it, I need to get this... but it'll be for the PC. Wonder how many soundbanks there are, that's one of the things I loved about WWP... *remembers the F1 soundbank* *reads official site* Ooh, single player looks sweet... |

Hehe, I have obtained it. Just need to install, but man... it looks good. *drools* As long as we don't hook Milly to this instead of GunBound... |

That's what people compared gunbound to actually. Only, Worms was WAY cooler. I mean, c'mon, they're worms... |

Actually, first came Scorched Earth. Then Worms, then GunBound. Nothing can beat Scorched Earth though. The classic strategy blow-them-up game. |

The game's good so far but it's... odd. I was trying to control it through the keyboard, but no dice. Then I used the mouse, but that was for camera angles... ...finally I figured out that my gamepad was best. Pretty easy to pick up from there. I never played Scorched 3D, I don't even know if it's still being updated. |
