Even if I set all detail levels to their maximum values, Descent runs way too fast on my computer. (The ship bobs up and down too fast, for example...) How do I slow it down to normal speed?

dosbox is the way to go. I believe there is support for descent, as well. An alternative to use is bochs, but its setup is not very user friendly

Generally when you ask for help with a program, you should mention what program. DOSBox should be able to control the speed though.

ROFL -- yes, sleep. Silly rabbit.

Anyways, my other suggestion is what I did -- you could build yourself / purchase an old shitbox computer for the running of old games I had one or two games that I couldn't get to run in DOSbox (although Descent certainly should) so I had to do that. (And I love my old shitbox computer)
