"Squaresofts popular RPG, Final Fantasy, was actually a final attempt at preventing bankrupcy. Their games before it were not a good hit at all with players. There final game they made now has 12 games in total, 11 standalone, 1 sequel"

Anyone else knew about this?

Yes, for a long time too ...

I'm sure others know about this.

Hence the name: "Final Fantasy".

I wouldn't mind playing that old Imp racing like game though, for the NES.

Right, I suppose that makes sense. Can't say that I knew that before though.

Did you just learn that ?

I've known about it for years. Square is like the gaming world's rags-to-riches story.

And thus they milked Final Fantasy, over, and over, and over again.

I really wish Square would have taken other series further, like the Chrono games, or the Mana series.

Damn straight.

I want new Chrono game and I want it now five years ago.

And yeah, I knew that. I thought it was common knowledge actually.

One thing. There are alot more final fantasy games than 12. You did not mention crystal cronicles, final fantasy mystic quest, and the gameboy, gameboy color games. So there are about 18 in all.

TACTICS, my brotha, TACTICS. Oh, and that shitty GBA rendition of it. Not so shitty, actually, but in comparison to the PSX version...

Gameboy Color? I only remember FF Legend series being for GB. FF Adventure/Sword of Mana was somewhere around there too... I wonder if you count Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 in the series, since for some reason they called the first game in that series "FF Adventure" in America?

Mystic Quest, like, shouldn't even count as a game It... sucked.... ballz

Can't forget Final Fantasy Tennis, Final Fantasy Kart, Final Fantasy Golf... or am I getting my series mixed up?

Anyhoo..........

Hadn't they even named Chrono Cross's non-existant sequel? I mean, they did everything but make it, right? I liked that series too, and I think we should all go down to Square-Enix's offices in Japan and pull out a major can of American/European/anything else Chrono fan whoop ass on them.

All I wish for regarding the Mana series is an officially translated version of SD3 to be released in our country. That would be great.

Oh well. FF3 is coming, so that's good enough to keep me going for now.

Final Fantasy Legends was really SaGa and Final Fantasy Adventure was Seiken Dentetsu/Sword of Mana. So, those do not really count I do not think ._.;

Also Square said they were ... ashamed for their game Rudra no Hihou , but I and many other think it is one of the best RPGs ever, since I never saw that much about details and tons of animations. Despite the very simple turn-based battle system and except the spell creation system and extensive use of the elemental attack/defense system for equipment (a keystone in battling the otherwise tough bosses) it lived with its atmosphere and characters.

As for Final Fantasy in general, I loved part six and nine, also FF3j seemed quite good. Ephrion Noirope (If he was spelled right like that?) was an expert and by reading his posts on the old board I also got that game.
FF IX was maybe just "back to the roots", but it had quite a basic but very interesting story and good overall value.

I don't want to attack Square-Enix, but for example tri-Ace always put more effort into their games when it comes to replay value. They may not even close when it came to cinematics compared to the ones in FF, but their battle systems always invented something new (like Valkyrie Profiles's god-like battle/combo system) or added challenging bonus dungeons, new difficulty levels when finishing a game and so on.

But nevertheless, Final Fantasy is not bad (apart from part eight *cough* ), but as stated above me, simply worn out.
