Does anybody uses bitorrents to download there torrents. Well anyway it takes along time to get a game, movie, or even music. It is random time when it is going to get done. It takes a week at the lease to get it done. Is there a better way run it faster because its slow. It might be the bitorrent, but I am not sure if its the bitorrent or the torrent file. Any suggestens.

Yeah, a suggestion: actually use English, not whatever language that is. Also, make sure you actually have a good connection (BT on a 56k will still be 5 kb/s) and that the appropriate port(s) on your router are forwarded properly, provided you use a router. Lastly, make sure the seed(s) you are downloading from doesn't have a 56k. Edit: I fail at comment tags. That, and this goes in Hardware/Software, not Help/Suggestions. I usually get only about 50kps when downloading torrents or so, when I know people who get around 200 on average. You mainly have to tweak your ports and connections, so that you can get them faster. I never did it myself, my dad would probably eventually somehow magically find out and get pissed (he deleted bit tornado on top of that). That's all I know for more advance talk, but yeah, make sure there's actual seeders when trying to download something. ... Spoiler: I remember when the Episode III trailer first released, and it scattered over Suprnova, there was 1,000+ seeders. I've never seen that since. =P |

Well, bittorrents are always slow for me, that's why I don't use it. Only FTP and Anti-Leech are really fast.

How to get faster speed depends on... (1) what you are download--popular things are easier to d/l (2) who you d/l from (like XKeeper said). One place I frequent has nice people to help seed--so I typically get d/ls at a rate of 100KB/s or more (3) how much you d/l at once. The more torrents you d/l at the same time, the more you connection gets choked (4) how far your peers are--if you are in the US and your peers in Europe, then slow is expected (5) how good your connection is--at work (University of California, Berkeley), I've reached 1MB/s+ d/l speeds for 20+ torrents open. However, at home, I top out at 50kb in general (3Mbit download connection) (6) the port you use to listen. Some ISPs throttle packets that come on the popular bittorrent ports of 6881-6889. I suggest you change your bittorrent port window to be something bigger than 10,000 |

Well I am downloading a game and its at 99.3% and won't go any further. Here I will tell you the details: Downloded 2.00 MiB Share rating 170.414 Uploaded 340.83 And still connecting to peers. Time estimated is 29:00 |

(1) how many seeders are there? if there are none, then that reduces your chances of downloading 100% (2) how many complete copies are there? if it says 1 + the percentage you have, then there are no complete copies out there. anything not that means you have a chance. (3) what client are you using? some clients give you better picture of what is going on. (4) how old was the torrent you d/l? the data at the time you d/l the torrent may have incorrectly showed who was on. I'd try using another client to see if you get better results. There are some trackers that reject certain clients and those trackers are the ones with access to other peers that may have the data you need. At the same time, the seeds you do see may not be connectable. This is a new insight I have just learned. There are various reasons why they are not connectable. These reasons range from the peer running out of connections or are just too far away to be able to connect. Another thing could be is that you are still downloading but at a very slow rate that isn't registered by the client. I'm not sure how to help you other than to ask a friend for a little assistance. They may have an internet connection that will allow them to grab the pieces you need to complete your download. |

I use BitTornado myself, it's pretty good. All you can really do is wait for better seeds or find another source.

Originally posted by Bush HaterAlternatives are Azureus and Bitcomet. Azureus has a lot of features such as selective file download and download queues (but it is java powered so it may run a tad slow at times). Bitcomet is a very simplified version of Azureus. All I know is, I recall some places do not like certain clients on their system to you can try using a different client to see if that gives you what you need. |

I don't know of any places that block popular clients like Azureus or BitTornado. It's mostly just experimental ones that don't follow the protocol properly.

i know there was one tracker that banned all bittornado version because they did not communicate with the tracker properly and bitcomet was banned because the software was reporting invalid transfer information. But i guess in both cases was problems with the tracker so yeah--that might be why he is having difficulty. Every tracker is built differently..

Windows XP SP2 also might be a problem, since the number of simultaneous connections/requests got reduced. There are ways tweaking the registry and a patch to fix that, but since I won't guarantee anything when someone is working inside the registry (where Windows can be messed up easily when not properly edited) or the patch does have other effects than expected. It also might be a NAT problem, this happens usually when you have yellow status icons in BitTorrent and similar versions all the time instead of green ones. I have very low download rates in Azureus, but with BitTornado and in Shareaza it is pretty good. Yesterday I downloaded a 105 MB file for about 105 KB/s (1024bkps connection), while I had 100+ sources |

Ugh, I've been having NAT issues with Azureus. Seems any port that I try gets blocked, and I've punched holes in ZoneAlarm. It MIGHT be the wireless router, but I thought I'd fixed THAT too. Now all I'm getting are red ones, even if I'm just downloading the updates to Azureus. (Yes, I have XP SP2, but it worked fine before.)

check the router, it might be the case the router isn't letting stuff through to that computer. After that, I'd check to see if you have open the UDP port as well? I remember Azureus told me that I should open the same UDP port as the TCP port for some distributed functionality--it may be using that. If that too doesn't work, you could try temporarily taking down the firewall to see what happens and go from there. Although I don't think you need to take down the firewall to see what is going on...

I assigned my PC a static IP and configured port forwarding for all of the BT ports I use. Now im seeing significantly faster speeds. Today I hit 170 kbps on a decently seeded torrent, before now I have never gotten above 40 kbp on a torrent download.

say, is your service give you a dynamic IP or a static IP? |
