" In its final form, Revolution will be about the thickness of three standard DVD cases and only slightly longer. The versatile Revolution will play either horizontally or vertically, allowing the user total flexibility in setting up a gaming session wherever they have a television. " At least, it seems like they're going to be small. Althought the describtion makes me think on a PS2 style console, just smaller. Backward compatable as Nintendo stated before, and Wireless internet (I guess it's some sort of Wifi thing, quite expected with the DS and all. Expect connectivity between thoose two ) This is not very much info, but... thoughts? |

I keep wondering if Animal Crossing is gonna go internet style... If the DS can't do that, The Revolution better! All this talk about Internet connection.... Heck, maybe Nintendo itself would go live on the internet on Animal Crossing! That would rock! Expect to see really cool things about Super Smash Brothers, also. Internet ready Super Smash Brothers will be AWESOME! We'd be asking each other if we could face off! I'd kick anyone's behind with Kirby and Mr. Game and Watch... AND I'd prove it, too! WarioWare games will be affected, too. They'd have a thing where you make your own microgames, and share them via internet! There's a ton and a half possibilities if Nintendo goes internet!

Triple bonus points for going with Wifi. Easy setup, easy to install. Although everything else screams PS2... we'll see if they can catch up a generation when they reveal more.

Catch up a generation? The GC minidisc was pretty damn cool, holding 1.5GB. The only way they were behind was by not having online play.

I've always been drawn to Nintendo, is there a possibility that they could be knocked off the videogame market? I don't follow news or anything, except that I know it's behind PS2 and X-Box Though I doubt I'll be able to afford this anytime soon. But man.. online Super Smash Bros? They gotta do that. Can't wait to get more information. |

Third thing: Jigglypuff's coconut ass is... well, everyone's. The little shit SUCKS. (Yes, I did just finish off "Jigglypuff Live!" after eighteen BILLION tries. Why do you ask?) But I'm not sure anyone (save, uhm, Sony and Microsoft) knew how big online gaming would be. (See the last two posts for proof.) |

Animal Crossing DS is confirmed online. Heard it on planetgamecube, they're quite reliable. Also, there is no foreseeably planned connectivity between the Revolution and DS. Nintendo is working on a new Gameboy, which will continue it's history of console connectivity. DS is a stand-alone, third tier. I'm eagerly awaiting the Revolution. I have this strange mental image of it being red. Red in color, I just think something called Revolution should be the color of blood, the color closest to humanity. Anyone have an idea of what the controller might be like? It will not be a touch-pad, like the DS, Nintendo has said this multiple times. They said it, "might not have a traditional control pad or buttons." Nintendo also has invested in a gyroscopic company, it's very likely that that technology will be used in the Revolution controller. It might not even be a "controller" in the classical sense, it could be something totally new. Also, I found it interesting that Nintendo has mentioned that they won't stop supporting the GameCube just because the Revolution is released. Since the Revolution is backwards compatable, the NR will technically have two different types of controllers, it's own and the GameCube one, so continual GameCube games can be made with the Revolution in mind. I'm very curious to see how the GameCube controller works aside their revolutionary new controller. |

It will play the 8cm GameCube discs and will play its own 12cm Revolution discs as well. I think that when I get one I am going to take it apart and paint it with my Dad's paint shop. Maybe I'll get into one of his $2000 cans of paint... Anyways, I am sick and tired of the lack of colors available. Nintendo should release much more colors at launch. Only one color was available at launch for the DS and now that there are more colors now, I have to stick with the one I have which results in me painting it. I painted my DS blue and put blue and white lights in it for anyone who wants to see it... |

Since when does the colour of a console actually matter? It seems very peculiar to me to have people complaining about colours.

Originally posted by SlayWell, Nintendo actually stated that on a offical press conference. I even saw a video, where he stated (with bad English) that you could play with people all over the world. Not sure about a new Gameboy thought, I think they made that statement incase DS failed. Well, the DS have surpassed the PSP in sales and is even selling more than the PSP. And PSP isn't a fKitten Yiffer either so... |

Slay: Yeah, I can see it being red myself. As for the controller, from what I've heard, it doesn't sound all that great. Supposedly, the controller will be fully "customizable" according to the companies and their wishes. How? It will have a touch screen, more than likely. Whether or not that will be the entire controller, I'm not sure. And this is factorial information that I've read in the past in Game Informer, online, etc. Then again, Nintendo has even stated they do not want to be "competition" agains't the PS3 and Xbox 360, they want to be their own thing ... or something. I'm just pleased to see that Nintendo announced that the "connectivity" between the GBA and GC, wasn't as great as they expected, and won't be a huge focus for the Revolution and DS / other GB. (Sorry folks, I just didn't care for the whole connectivity thing that much myself) (edited by Darth Xeodious on 05-16-05 09:58 AM) |

I don't buy the touch screen rumor. One of the funny rumors I heard, actually, was that Nintendo showed off the touch screen thing to some third parties and they pretty much balked at it, so Nintendo threw the idea out. XD Wouldn't be surprised if there IS a touch screen but I doubt it would be the focal point of the controller. I think they'll surprise us tomorrow. Given how MS and Sony have laid their cards out on the table, even if Nintendo was going to be coy again tomorrow they might have no choice but to go on the offensive. We'll see. |

They don't have that oppurtunity. The buzzword is that the Revolution ain't ready and that we're going to be let down hard tomorrow when Nintendo bitches out of showing a finished system. Time to wait for Spaceworld, or something. |

I would find that one VERY hard to believe, and that's my neutral side talking. (My Nintendo fanboy side is saying that they'll show off the new Mario and that they'll have a ton of great announcements, but I digress.) If the system ISN'T ready, then Nintendo's walking into a death trap because the bad pub that would flow in would be incredible. Given how the system SHOULD launch within a year or so (much like the PS3 in Spring 2006 according to the conference), not having something ready now would be a real shock. It's not like they haven't had enough time to show it. (Of course, they could always get around that by just showing a ton of videos of tech demos/games/etc. and having the system on display without anything inside it, but we'll see. If what you're saying ends up being true, then that's probably the best way around any scathing criticism.) Oh, and Nintendo hasn't done a Spaceworld for 2 years or so and they're not doing one this year, so... |

Well, the simple problem is that all info points to "Oh, shit...We don't have a system to show". And for business analysts and actual industry afficandos (not you and the other fanboys) this is your mentioned death trap. They're going to have some good announcements. But other than that...The Revolution, if it goes no show, is going to be Revolutionary in the fact it is Nintendo's death knell. |
