Of all the different Mario's, (Dr. Mario, Retro Mario, Skinny Mario, etc.) I like Paper Mario the best. Though he's made of paper, he can move freely without any help! He doesn't talk as much as the other Mario's, and he has awesome friends with him! I like how he says a lot to someone, yet it only sounds like he's saying, "uh-huh". That's funny. Someone outghta make a flash movie with him. (His form today, not from PM1) His arms, feet and others that seem to be seperate from his body! Heck, I'd make one if I had the money to buy a flash movie maker!

Yes and his worst enemy is a paper shredder... Paper Mario is a great RPG like Super Mario RPG... and some of his friends are not awesome.

NO! I was ONLY 9!!!!

Ahem.

Some, some of his friends were not good, but the story and overall was awesome.
I love the game.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is also a pretty damn good RPG too! It has quite a few funny moments.

Good news is: is that there's going to be another version for the DS. It's going to include baby Mario and Luigi. God I can't stop advertising the Nintendo DS.
It really is that good!

But yeah! I bought Paper Mario for the N64 aaages ago! It's long been stolen by my brother, but I loved the game and all.

Yes, Paper Mario is one of the best RPG games ever. I haven't played the first one but I've played the Thousand Year Door for the Gamecube. It kept me busy all spring break because I couldn't stop playing because of the awesome storyline. I do agree that not of Mario friends are great. The one I hate the most out of all Mario's friends in the Thousand Year Door is Ms. Mowz, she always dies in battle in my case and her abilities aren't that great in my opinion. She's more into stealing than doing any damage to her enemies.

I almost agree with you, except whenever I play it, the bosses take an insanely long time to beat. Queen Bean alone took me something like two hours on the computer, and I was using savestates to make sure I selected moves that would do the most possible damage The big Piranha Plant you fight at the airport was even worse

I read about that on another site I check somewhat regularly, but I'd forgotten about it until I read your post. Thanks for reminding me I definitely plan on picking this up when it gets released. The addition of Baby Mario and Baby Luigi alone makes it look pretty interesting.

Now, as for the topic at hand, I don't own a cart copy of Paper Mario, but I rented it a few times, if that counts

Do you see the date this thread was made?

Do you see the current date?

Do you see what I'm getting at?

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, there's no hope for you.

Come on, is it really that hard to just not bump threads?

I'm keeping the thread open, though. The bump seems to have sparked healthy discussion, so... Just... Try not to do it again

Yeah, liked the first better as well. For all the extra disc space, you'd have thought they'd keep the exploration element. In PMTTYD, all you did was take trains and warps, while in PM you could actually walk around the continents. Much nicer.

In my opinon, Bowser in Glitzville should have been stronger. But it was unexpected...

Bowser in Glitzville had...

HP: 30
D: 1
A: 7 or 8, can't remember.

But the game was decent, just not as good as the other.

What I'd like, though, is to have him do stuff by moving parts of his body. Like his feet and arms and stuff. Like, Mario doing a little dance jig.

I thought nobody would reply to this some time back.

I actually tought the second one was far superior.

As for saying that Bowser in Glitzville was easy... well, he's a MINI-BOSS there, so it's normal.

Bowser during the final battles, THAT is another story however!... but that could be a spoiler to those that still didn't finished the game.

Anyway, altought I believe the second game is more fun, I'll list the advantages of each.

Paper Mario
+Bowser is a convaincing and funny villain
+Some truly great partners (I like Bombette and Parakarry myself)
+More mini-quests than in Paper Mario 2
+Peach's quests are long and interesting
+Easier to navigate trought areas once the sewers dungeon is completed
+Has to walk all the way to each new destination
+Rival (Jr. Troopa) that grows during the game and that you fight several times
+Easier (better for beginners)
-Easier (not so good for advanced players)
-Difficulty doesn't pick up until about half the game
-Optionnal Bosses are mostly a joke
-Partners can't use items & are invincible
-Some partners have paper-thin personalities (especially Watt)
-Some partners are grossly over-powered compared to the others (*COUGH!*Watt*COUGH!*)
-Stat cap forces you to have the stats the game wants (can't have more than 30 BPs...)
-Level cap at 27 (means that you won't raise your levels much)

Paper Mario 2
+Most of the new villains are very funny and convaincing
+Bowser is even funnier in this one!
+Bowser in SMB remake mini-games? YAY!
+Better storyline
+Partners are full-fledged characters now
+Partners are more interesting overall
+Improved sewers dungeon
+Not as easy to travel around using the sewers dungeon
+MUCH harder than first Paper Mario
+Optionnal bosses are actually challenging
+Good mini-quests
+Chapters are more exciting and action-packed
+Luigi!
+Stat cap removed (want 99 BPs? you can!)
+Level cap removed
-Hard... maybe too hard sometimes (some bosses are downright brutal)
-Doopliss, the Shadow Sirens, Lord Crump... it's all good but Grodus himself is as dull as dishwater.
-Peach's quests aren't nearly as challenging and long as in the first game.
-Not as much exploration to do, sadly.
-Not as many mini-quests
-Luigi!... becease you only get to hear about his adventures.
-Can abuse the fact that enemies always give out one star point
-Can't have rematches with end of chapter big bosses
-No rival of some sort in this game

Now that I remember, the one thing I actually really liked in The Thousand Year Door were the SMB1-style levels, in which you played as Bowser. Unfortunately, as far as I remember, you only got to play in one of those after every other chapter of the game It would've been really neat if that was an unlockable minigame in the game corner (or whatever the name of the place is), but alas, it wasn't.

The bits where you get to play as Peach after every chapter in Paper Mario were fun as well. I liked the one where you had to make the cake the most for whatever reason

As for Bowser in Glitzville (I read that as Glitchville at first ), I found the battle to be on the easy side too As Zerodius said though, he was pretty much a miniboss, so there's not a whole lot you could expect for him to do to cause you to possibly lose the battle (unless Mario and your partner were at extremely low levels).

Thanks for the correction. I couldn't remember what it was, so I just typed the first thing that came to mind

I still like Paper Mario 2. I simply didn't find it as interesting as the first one had been.
