Yeah, that kind of reminds me of this one system I use. It's called a bank.

First I thought it would contain also biometric data, es a new ID card in switzerland will do (optional, costs 250.-, instead of 30.- for the ID.)

Aren't you supposed ot carry a identification on you in the US? Here I think, you have to (Everyone I know has a ID or Driving Licence on him or her.).

But putting your adress on the ID? Now that's ridiculous, everytime you move, you ought to get a new ID? Now that's stupid.

And as other said, the Government having control over all your numbers? I do not like that idea, even if its our government.

The government intruding into our daily lives. You know that ID cards are only the first step. Maybe eventually, if this useless bill gets passed, americans will live in a controlled beehive-like community. It's a total domino effect waiting to happen, and them using terrorism as a justification for this is just going too far.

No, you don't, that's the point. There is no law (not even this new one) that says you have to carry ID at all times. People need to cut all the freaking out. This law simply sets standards for ID's, standards that many states already meet or surpass anyway. Connecticut driver's licences already have a digitized data block on the back side containing I'm not even sure what.

The point of these laws is to put the crackdown on states that still use junky non-laminated ID's with minimal information on them.

So in the USA, ID-reglements are a per state affair.

I think thats strange, but I should not say that (Switzerland is in some cases not better).

So the bill simply standardisizes the IDs over the country, with features, in some states allready present.

And the digitized datablack, thatas just numbers, right? If so, we in switzerland have that too, and we're not alone. (The Passport got that later, in 2002, cos the US made much fuss about non electronic readable passporsts).

There isn't one small group of people controlling every bank, though. And the people running it can't very well tell who you are unless they know you or you tell them. How about someone who can just run your picture through a computer and know everything about you?

By the way Dei, you are WAY too paranoid. I know 1984 is practically required reading and all, but in the end it's just fiction. That, and a very boring story which is one of the most overrated books of all time. Seriously, quit being so paranoid. The only reason you should worry about it, is if you have something to hide.

fuel my laziness

It'll be insecure (identity theft as easy as credit card fraud), and don't compare this to the internet. It isn't the same as all.

This WILL lead to knowing where we are. It'll be required for every government program, and in the future, would probably lead to being required to enter a state. As long as people think there's a terrorist threat, the polititians can remove almost as many of our civil liberties as they see fit.

Did any of you even READ the bill?

Why don't we let the governments take over... say, restaraunts? Stores? Corporations? OH WAIT YOU'RE RETARDED.

windwaker, when you grow up some more and learn about the world and it's ways, come talk to me. You clearly have no understanding on the situation and have blown it grossly out of proportion. Fear is the mindkiller, paranoia is a weakness.

Strike 1 for flaming, on a sidenote.

Do you get a strike for being retarded? D;

You're evading the issue. Sure, paranoia could be used to make it seem like this isn't a big deal; however, what we DO know is quite unsettling. I suggest reading it.

You're in no posistion to tell me not to flame Ziff, seeings how you do it on a somewhat frequent basis.

But that's irrelevant seeings how I didn't flame in the first place.

Saying something negative about someone is not flaming. Blatantly insulting them in a childish manner on the other hand is.

Leg, this is an ongoing STAFF discussion within a disciplinary tracker file.

Don't take this onto the board.

You made a flame, plain and simple. Also, regardless of past transgressions, you too flame on a somewhat more than frequent basis. You are in no position to chastise me.

If you don't want to make a direct answer, then don't post.

"windwaker, when you grow up some more and learn about the world and it's ways, come talk to me. You clearly have no understanding on the situation and have blown it grossly out of proportion."

The bolded part would constitute a flame.

1. I thought we were dropping this for the other thread? No? 0_o

2. I'm sorry, but that's not a flame. It's an opinion presented in a respectful manner. Go ahead and look in the Xkeeper thread for my two version thing. That's the difference between flaming and forming a decent opinion.

Anything negative said does not always mean flame. Work with me here.

Nice postcount++ NSN. I would have never seen that. =D

I was voicing my opinion in a respectful manor as WELL. It's like calling people gay; is that really an insult? >8(

Stop overreacting Legion. You know I <3 you. e-drama is too lame for me to try and cause any of it on purpose. However if you'd like to meet up in real life, I'm sure we could start a soap opera. I'LL BE GRACE.

Let's get BACK on the TOPIC.

Edit: ziff, I was typing

bet you thought there would be an insult here, DIDN'T YOU?

Leg, the web is full of crap. You can't just type in my name on Google and be able to control my bank account, or for that matter even find any information about me that you can be sure is true. We're talking about a government database, it's a little different.
