Here's a new riddle. I was the one who thought it up -- but even I couldn't figure it out at first. I enjoy thinking up riddles and working out the solution. I've made sure to include enough clauses to ensure that there's only one solution. Here's the setup. You come to a locked door that you need to pass. There's absolutely no way to bypass the door other than by placing a small jewel into the eye of an engraving on it's surface. If you place the jewel in the holder, the door will open. The jewel is in sight, and within reach. You're looking right at it. It's in the bottom of a glass fish tank. The problem is that the tank is filled with voracious piranhas. You have to retrieve the jewel, but you can NOT immerse your hand in the water, nor can you put anything else in the water, because the piranhas will devour and/or destroy it. You cannot breach the glass in any way; you cannot break it or drill a tiny hole in it, and the tank is absolutely immovable. So to recap; you cannot put anything in the tank, you cannot break the tank and you cannot move the tank. And since this is a precious jewel, it isn't magnetic, so that possibility is a no-go. Assume that this predicament is taking place in modern day and that, within reason, any object you might need to retrieve the jewel is available to you. How do you get the jewel? |

Boil the water (from warming the glass just enough) until it evaporates completely, wait for the piranhas to die (with the water gone), then take the jewel? Or would the jewel risk melting down? |

. . . Hmm. I didn't think it was that obvious. I guess I should leave the riddle-making to the professionals. |

Theres always the harder to do if its heavy, attempt to spill out the water by knocking over the fishtank.. and wate for the fish to die to get the jewel

Also the vacuum would have a metal tip so the pirahna couldn't jump up and destroy it. |

Nope, nope, Slay's got you there. You can't put anything in the tank. Which means electrolysis is out, too.... |

Not if you step up the voltage enough and arc it into the tank...

And if you had a gamma ray gun... could you use that the fry the door... and theres always the small chance that your in a comic book universe and you "hulk out" the fish... and that would be bad... |

Alternatively, destroy the planet your are on from space, and watch as gravity goes bye bye and the water and dead fish float out of the tank. Then use sensors to locate said jewel. Though we assume the tank is immovable, we do not assume everything around it is not. |
