Affirmative action is about 99% lies. Those people that are coming in are often more qualified.

During my volunteering at a hereby agency (where people who try to get in always whine about affirmative action) I got to look through hiring files of different departments (names are blacked out). Now, the biggest problem I saw was that on the hiring form there was a little part that said "ethnicity". The majority of applicants claimed descent of African-Carribean (black/negro were the other names they put on there) ethnic heritage. Many of these people were under-qualified when compared to the three Asian people that were hired. And the white people that claimed to have applied didn't even give a resume.

Additionally, I know for a fact that many universities in Canada are doing "reverse affirmative action". They're being given grief by human/civil rights leagues because a: people who are of south/east/other ethnicities are over-enrolled into sciences, thus they are trying to get more white people in. B: too many white people are in the arts/humanities thus they are trying to get more non-white people in. It is a weird situation...And these same things are trying to get quotas stricken so that everyone has equal rights.

But I'll tell you the most mis-treated people in my nation, and those are the original inhabitants, the aboriginals - The First Nation Peoples. My cousin who lives on a reserve said that even the people who HAVE tried cannot get hired, the people who have NO criminal record aren't getting hired.

When I hear a white-boy scream foul, I laugh. Because they are generally the people who have no understanding.

Yes I know that, but why can't someone just be hired by there qualifications and not there ethnicity? Sometimes the best person for the job isn't hired because a certain organization has allready met its quota of that ethnicity. That right there is crap. something needs to be done fore this. People should be able to choose on who is most qualified and not what race they are. That in its own is racist.

Its helping prevent a serious problem called ethnic poverty. If you look at statistics ethnic people are more likely to live in poverty than whites. You know why? It's been historically harder for them to find work. Thus, they congregate into centred communities and become ghettos. When this happens crime rates go up, and so does racism.

Aditionally, the majority of them are better qualified than Jack Smith from Iowa. But when Jack Smith doesn't get the job, he spouts some BS about affirmative action.

That is what I am trying to say. If the moronic people that thought that no one was better qualified then them go out for a job and don't get it but someone else did they shouldn't complain. All that I am trying to say is the best person should get the job and everyone else shouldn't complain. I know that more "ghetto" areas will sprout but why can't they make their community better why do they have to be fighting all the time with each other. They can make their own schools. They are called Home schools, or private schools. They have an oppurtunity to make their lives better they just don't do it. Now some of them may be lazy but that doesn't give them the right to complain that they should get a job when there is someone more qualified then them.

You know what, you're not exactly bright on this. If you don't have money then you have problems. That's the inherent problem here. You really need to read what you're saying.

Obviously you're a whiny white person that has never actually had the...oppurtunity to grow up in poverty. Or read a book about the real world.

Just because I am white doesn't mean that I am whiny. And yes my family is poor...We don't even have internet I have to go to a friends house to be online, but that is not the point. The point at hand is racism not money. I simply posted before that ethnic job quota was in terms racist. That is all.

Ziff... You're not seeing his point. But Legault, you're not seeing Ziff's. There's a fine line between need and necessity.

Legault: You're right for saying that people shouldn't bitch when they suck at life enough to not be picked for a job. Affirmative action should be made more lenient to account for race AND quality. But at the same time, AA also glorifies a form of racial discrimination that, while not necessarily bad, is still discrimination being used by a country that is supposed to be nondiscriminant. If we're gonna be nonracist, it has to work both ways: We can't give disadvantages and disenfranchises to """""looked down upon""""" ethnicities, but at the same time we can't raise them above the rest of the world as sullen, unable, impoverished masses, because as the rule of stereotypes goes, NOT ALL OF THEM ARE.

Ziff: You, however, drop the A-Bomb of Affirmative Action: Money. There isn't enough money to go around to allow people to help themselves, and most psychological records will show that attitude and drive for education has as much to do with environment as it does talent. You could be a genius, but it wouldn't mean jack smith if you don't have the means to cultivate your talent due to lack of money or support. Personally, I think the government should give handouts to the underprivileged to allow them to cultivate that talent. If they choose not to take that money and use it well, and instead squander it, then that is in support of Legault's argument that it is their own fault. You'd lose there, Ziff. The people got their equal opportunity and didn't take it. You can't blame the corporations for picking the most qualified if the people who are most qualified were given every chance to become qualified alongside every other person's chances. In an ideal world, everyone'd go to the right schools. But the fact of the matter is, some people really don't want to learn, no matter what happens. I wish it were different, but you can't force a kid into a Calculus class, and you DEFINITELY can't force them to succeed.

Both of you: If hundreds of old men can't come to a solution about this damn issue, what makes you think you can?

(as I go on to explain my personal views further... feel free to fire the hypocrisy bazooka at me)

Handouts and a shift to educational purposes are key to equal opportunity's success. But that's not going to happen anywhere any time soon. America is spending their money trying to develop a fucking DEATH STAR, and Legault is complaining about people not helping themselves and being lazy alongside Ziff complaining about them not having the proper facilities to do so. What's wrong here? Oh, right. This is America.

I would love to take on a Mortal Kombat voice and yeah, but...

Anyways, as you can see, Grey is right. Our money is being wasted, blah blah blah blah, I could go on for hours about a lot of problems, but it all comes back to one thing.

If you think/say/act different because of any color or anything, or evenbelieve in different "races" you're admiting to yourself they ARE different than you. Everyone is the same, color doesn't matter, niether does different size, wieght, whatever, we're all the same. If I see a black person, the first thing that goes through my mind isn't "Oh look a black person" its "Huh..." and I stop paying attention just like I do with every person that I see.

Oh, and the reason old men can't work it out, is because they are old, and thats a big problem of ours. Young leaders would probably do a LOT better than these old people.

But do the Golden Farmers exist as a race today? Gene flow has seen to it that both the Golden Farmers and the Platinum Fishermen are now indistinguishable from Caucasians (which by the way sounds like a type of fancy and cocaine-based confectionary).
