Yep, that will do just fine.... WE HAVE A PROBLEM... Im running out of puzzles... but dont worry, as soon as one teaser closes, ANOTHER SHALL OPEN! _____Score_____ Jagori - 48 Felix - 33 Lost Auzzie - 29 NSNick - 21 Kefka - 8 1/2 blackfire - 8 Edsgravy0 - 5 Disch/Slash Dafter/ETG - 4 neotransotaku - 2 Emptyeye - 1 _______________ Puzzle 55(LAST ONE, 5 POINTS) The Amorous Commuter John Jones lives in Maidenhead. He has one Girlfriend in Reading, and another is Slough. he has no car, and therefore takes teh train whenever he goes to see them. trains stopping in Maidenhead can go east or west. The the west, is Reading, and the east is Slough. there is an equal number of trains going in each direction. John likes his two girlfriends equally. because he finds it hard to choose between teh two, he decides to take the first arriving train, regardless of east or west. After a month, he finds he has visited teh girl in Slough 11 times more often than the girl in Reading. Assuming he arrived at the station at random times, why is the girl in reading recieving so little attention? |

I'm guessing he travels from east to west visiting both of them, the east one before getting on the train, and the west when he gets off, at the end he travels east again, visits the girl in the east, and then goes home he does the same each day. |

Let's imagine this situation: The eastbound trains to Slough arrive once every hour, at 0:05, 1:05, 2:05... The westbound trains to Reading also arrive once every hour, at 0:00, 1:00, 2:00... This means that our hero will only get on the Reading trains if he arrives at the station when the time is between the hour and five past the hour, whereas at any other time (3:09, 4:52, 8:33, 7:14...) he'll find himself going to Slough. That would result in eleven trips to Slough for every trip to Reading. The real question is what anyone would find attractive in women from those two dumps. ; (Kidding!) |
