Want to say why you voted the way you did? Perhaps even convince others to vote your way?

I would like to start off by asking why the people who have voted against OoT or abstained in that vote chose to do so. Quite honestly, I was surprised to see that it was only #10 on the initial rankings. It's probably one of the two best Zelda games in the opinions of most (LttP, naturally, being the other). And I still don't know what Terranigma is about...I've never even heard of the game...

Also, I was upset by Super Mario Kart being called a "decent" racer. As I stated before, it almost revolutionized the racing genre (see 1up.com's Essential 50 - Super Mario Kart is on there). Now, I know it's Starcraft, and I know some people go ape over it, but how many sequels have been released for Starcraft, with equaled success every time? At last I checked, Ghost was still being made. The other statement is definitely true for Mario Kart.

And I think I speak for all of the DDR-playing members of Acmlm's board when I say that I'm disappointed that DDR was shot down. Now, I assume that a lot of people voted for MMX2 simply because they've never played DDR or played it once and were horrible at it. But the people who have played DDR can tell others that it's a very engrossing game once they get good at it.

That's just my take on it...

I myself see OoT as the 4th best Zelda, but I'm nostalgic.

It doesn't matter that it was incredible then - what matters is that there's much better stuff now. Deepest battle mode of every kart racer to date I will give it, but deepness doesn't equal fun all by itself, and it's not as fun as its successors, and if you take away the battle mode it's inferior to its predecessors in most every way. And then there's F-Zero GX, which makes every other racing game ever look like a pile of crap with the exception of its arcade cousin, F-Zero AX.

And for the record, "almost revolutionized" doesn't mean a damn thing. To borrow from the words of Sideshow Bob, do they give a Nobel Prize for "attempted chemistry"?

I was looking for the "Both Mangled and Killed" option a la Grudge Match myself.

I've not heard of the games I didn't vote for, or, thanks to games manufacturers - was never offered a chance to play it. FF6 only came out over here in 2004. (Yep, you read that right).
So, I'm PROUD to vote for Sonic 3 > FF6 Besides, in the short term, Sonic 3 was a lot more fun for me than FF6.

Look for a ROM and play Terranigma. If you have trouble finding one, I might be able to help...

And I put OoT pretty low on my list of Zelda games. Not because it's a bad game, but because there's others I like more: LttP, Oracle of Seasons, Link's Awakening DX.

FireOcean: It's not surprising you haven't heard of Terranigma, since it was only released in Japan and Europe (I think, I know for a fact it was never released here in the US)

Regardless, do what Cheveyo says. The game is extremely good, and worth playing if you haven't played it yet.

If you've played Illusion of Gaia, well it's very similar to that style, except far better and provides a much deeper storyline (in my opinion at least).

Bah, its not fair that one of my favorite games of all time got matched up against a game everyone would vote for...

You should all really play it, its a great game.

(Terranigma if you didn't know.)

Isn't Terranigma the third game in the Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaea trilogy?

Nintendo Power made mention of a game similar to Terranigma slated for a 1995/96 release in America, but then again Dragon Quest 6 was schedule for release too and THAT didn't happen. :\

Terranigma is a fun action RPG though. Great soundtrack too.

YOU = WIN!

Yes, it is Soul Blazer 3 basically. Just a lot more advanced than the other two, with ya know... a good battle system.

And now, my personal prefs in order:

1: Link's Awakening (WALLLLLLLLLRUSSSSSS)
2: Link to The Past (just badass)
3: Vanilla (challenging and fun!)
4: Oracle of Seasons/Ages
5: Ocarina of Time
6: Four Swords Adventures (moves to position 3 when four players are involved)
7: Wind Waker
8: Adventure of Link
9: I have yet to play Minish Cap.

I would play Minish Cap ASAP - haven't beaten it yet but it's another Flagship/Capcom product, who have a pretty good idea on how to make Zelda games (see Ages/Seasons).

Soul Blazer was a *good* game and I'd actually put it ahead of Gaea. I remember renting it a few times just to beat it... Pretty fun for '93 or so.

Thus, I take it Illusion of Gaia is Soul Blazer 2? I'll have to check out the original then, since I'd consider myself a fan of the 2nd two. (Gaia and Terranigma)

The original is more simple than the others obviously, but it has a neat little premise and the gameplay is kind of fun.

Although you can REALLY rack up EXP in the final area...

Terranigma > you.

OoT/MM/TWW > all.

I liked MM just as well as everything else, for the sheer fact that there's SO MUCH you can do. Exploring rocks. ROCKS.

Aww, looks like Zelda is going to lose to Super Metroid. Oh well, I'm just amazed it beat FF7.

I can see Super Metroid beating Zelda - the original, that is. Toss it up against Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time and you'd definitely have a hell of a quandry on your hands.
