I had to get like 6 just recently because I had an 'on-again, off-again' habit about brushing and drank tons of pop. It doesn't really hurt (besides the needle), the akward part is when they pry your mouth open and keep it wide open for like half an hour, and when you have to swallow or when drool splashes everywhere (hit my legs a few times ). Then you tend to end up biting your lip without noticing it and making it swell up if you don't know any better, and then when you think the numbness has worn off but it hasn't quite, and you find yourself unable to blow on things or drink through a straw even though you can feel again. It really isn't as bad as people say though. It's not pleasant at all, but it's nowhere near the typical "AAAAAH OH GOD THE PAIN" you generally hear about. (Maybe this is coming from people who had it done back before they had anisthetic? ) |

See, I'm not alone when it comes to bad luck! Yeah, the mouth thing's the only bad part when they pretty much use the jack-like things to keep everything steady. I'll usually be numb for an hour or two afterwards and then tingly for the rest of the day, but nothing that doesn't stop me from drinking/eating. |

I just got two recently. Hell, if not for that air they use (I don't know what it is) I probably couldn't have made it through the needle. ; (400th post, btw. ) |

My first filling scared me since I knew nothing about what a dentist does. I was only 5 when I had my first. I still have a filling on one of my wisdoms. I'm supposed to use flouride every night after mouthwash.

...Fluoride and mouthwash? I use neither. Actually, back in elementary school I never used fluoride to begin with because I took care of my teeth unlike the majority of my classmates. :\ What they had to do every day was take their little packet of fluoride and swoosh it around, I suppose... I just sat there and drank my milk. |

I don't use packets though. Mine comes in a plastic bottle that looks like hairgel (I know, weird ) with a tiny medicine cup on top. I have to use 1/8oz flouride, fill the cup with water, use half of it for one minute, then quickly use the rest. It leaves a plasticy feeling in my mouth, kinda gross.

I had to use fluoride after I got my braces off. Major cash was spent here. ; Now... I only need to use mouthwash. (It's the citrus listerine. My mom just bought it... I prefer mint though ) They suggest brushing twice a day. I only do it once, but use the mouthwash 3 times a day |
