| Ok we had this new computer over a month or so now. And there is something wrong with are hardware I think. The computer shuts off and rebootes itself back up. this happens about 2-6 times a week. I Don't know whats the problem but I will try to figure it out. | |||

That's probably it, but if you're using XP, you should also make sure BSODs are enabled so you can see WTF is wrong. Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and recovery, uncheck 'Automatically restart'. If it's a system error, it should give you an error code which you can look up on microsoft.com (usually only the first 2 numbers are important, like '0xC000005E STOP (0x12345678 whatever)' but write them all down in case you need specific details). If that doesn't come up, it's probably a heating or power supply issue. (Or shorted reset button.  ) |

| I forgot about something. You know there are two fans in my computer. One is the main fan and the other one is the cpu fan. I have only one fan. I have the cpu fan but not the fan in the back of the computer and my dad took off the side of the computer to cool down the computer so it does not over heat. I still don't know if it has to do with the fans mostly the hardware problems. | |||

| Its best to leave the side on, to ensure air is properly flowing through the case. You should contact your manufacturer or if self built get a case fan, they're pretty cheap you could also get another heat sink and CPU fan but I guess its up to you. | |||

| My opinion is simple. Leave the case off for as long as you have no case fan. I've had one computer overheat and damage itself several times... well, and there was a melting power supply. One broken power supply caused the power button to not work correctly. Does it turn on/off correctly, or endlessly reboot (when told to shut down) unless you pull the plug/press the button manually? |
