*shrug* That's how I understood his statement. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong, but at least it was a reasonable assumption.

That wasn't a personal attack, I'm just saying...

Maybe it's just me, but I also think those guys are idiots, too.

They're doing immensely complicated stuff that neither of us could do.

2) Don't particularly care, as it has nothing to do with my point.

Your point is "they tamper with expensive stuff". I think that knowledge is priceless, and if you're into the money = power thing, it saves a hell of a lot of money, and has a hell of a lot of payoff.

I fail to see your point.

Technical knowledge and common sense are two different things. Often when I call someone an idiot, I refer to their level of common sense. Such was the case there.

It does not make much sense to throw away $100+ in an attempt to gain knowledge of a system that will be obsolete within the next few (3-5?) years. Then you have to repeat the process again, paying up to $150-$250 for a new system (depending on when you get it) to gain knowledge of modding a system that will - yet again - be obsolete within another few years. This doesn't take into account the added cost of failed attempts, which could be astronomical.

You seem to know a lot about console modding.

And you forget knowledge is priceless.

Seriously, why bash people who are doing something that nor I nor you would dare do? That's like calling soldiers idiots, in a sense.

Edit: priceless, not pointless. ^^;

Note that romhacking doesn't involve tampering with highly expensive things. Unless I'm missing a vital detail.

I could see your point against my iPod trip only if it were messing with the hardware. This was a software thing. It was easily fixed. Don't believe me? This will let you believe that

Messing with the system files = Mostly harmless. Worst case scenario would be having to boot into Windows to use Apple's utility of repartitioning/formatting the hard disk.

*scrolls back to first post by self in thread*

I don't think I was referring to you, I was merely replying to windwaker.

Of course, I don't think toying around with system files is always the brightest thing to do, but at least it didn't cause any permanent damage.
