SCREEEEEEEECH!!!

Kicking up a cloud of dust as he slammed into the room, Grey ran himself straight into a desk diagonally adjacent to Kirby's, seconds before the tardy bell rang. By the time the action began, he was slightly conscious, enough to actually want to pay attention to the German Geographer's manifesto on the benefits of being German in WWI. A little fourth-wall-breaking had to be done when you didn't want to be late to class.

Grey: "Hagen-Das? I want some ice cream! Ice cream! Ice cream!"

Mr. Neiderhaussermaier: "Excuses me, mistar noisy ice cream lovink studant! In ordar for me to teach mein classen, I must haff SILANCE!!!!!"

He rubbed his left hand around his right upper arm, and darted his beady eyes toward the clock, only to fix them back onto Grey's terrified face. Fuming with the anger that only a german teacher could muster, he continued his mantra after leaning to about several inches away from Grey's face. Flecks of spit could be seen coming from a throat that bulged with veins as the angry teacher remanded his pupil.

"Ach! Look at vat yu haff made me du! Now zere ist not time to teach ze classen! Eet ist almust time for ze classen to leave! Louse of a studant!"

As the bell rang with a horrifyingly loud BRRRRRRRRRRRRING! Grey bolted from his seat to his next class, kicking up a cloud of dust that blinded Neiderhaussermeier from seeing him to give him another detention stacked on top of the one he already had... He didn't know where he was headed, but anywhere was better than this.

And so...

DING DING DING DING DING

Kirby: Huh? What?

Kirby, with a bit of drool rolling off of his bottom lip, sprang up from his seat. The bell ending the sixth hour had went off.

Kirby: Oh man.. where did the day go? I felt like I just... slept the entire day away...

But he didn't. He dealt with the first day annoyances, with the relief of lunch in the middle. Luckily, the day was going to wind down with PE for the last period.

Kirby: OH YEAH!

Chuchu: Hey, Kirb.. you finally look like you're happy about something. I thought science class would've entertained you a bit.

Kirby: Despite how many people were rolling in their graves thanks to Mr. Neid, I'd say that class was more fun than this. C'mon, Chuch. Let's get going. And I'm not letting you ditch be like before and force me to look around.

Chuchu: Hehehe.. So you found out, huh?

Kirby: *frowns* You were doing that intentionally?

The gym was bustling with activity, but none more active than a large gathering of people centered around one person.

Grey: "Come on, all of you! Before Gym begins, I'm taking bets! I can do it, of course! Half court, just you all watch!"

The young man, out of his tattered suit for now, was tossing a basketball from hand to hand as he riled up the crowd, trying to get them all to see what he could do. The crowd was whipped into a frenzy in little more than a few seconds, and people were throwing fits in frustration at the results of the seemingly impossible feat of athletics.

NPC: "A week's lunch pass!"

NPC2: "Forget that, two weeks says he can't do it!"

NPC3: "Bah, Forget you! If he makes it, you can do my homework for the rest of the semester!"

NPC2: "You're on!"

And so, the crowd around Grey dispersed into a semicircle, as the would-be basketball star dribbled a few times at the half-court line...

Grey: "Ladies and Gentlemen, I will need absolute quiet for this... I ask that all of your attention be focused entirely on the ball. I can only do it if you believe in me! Only then! Now! Observe!"

The crowd went deadly silent as he crouched... The ball aimed upward, and everyone's eyes centered entirely upon it as he released it into the air... Through the skies of the gym did it fly, up and over the heads of so many, a beacon of physical inspiration to all who watched it....

......And past the backboard did it fly, never even coming close to its target. When the NPCs stared at Grey, they saw nothing but air. In the back of the Gym, a slightly stealthy creature was making his escape perfectly, until he happened to crash into a pair of pedestrians making their entrance into the gym.

From the ground, Grey looked up sheepishly at Kirby and Chuchu...

"Ah... Heya."

Kirby and Chuchu were already in their gym clothes (both in white shirts and blue shorts, mind you). Kirby, still glazed over from science, had a dull look on his face.

Kirby: Hey, you're.. grey, right? What's with the sneaky sneaky business?

Chuchu: I'll see ya later, Kirb.

Kirby: Huh?

Chuchu: Don't you know? First day's always a freebie day. I'm gonna go chat with my friends.

And with that, the blonde sped away, leaving Kirby to wave his hand.

Kirby: Um, ok.. bye

Grey jumped hastily behind Kirby, hiding behind him as a mob of angry NPCs went rushing by, looking for their swindling target.

Grey: "Shh... Looks like they're gone for now, but the trick is to get them all riled up, then get the hell out of there! Ha, it's the best!"

He came out from behind Kirby, a triumphant grin on his face.

"And yeah, you're right! I am Grey, glad you remembered me."

He motioned outward towards the gym, which was full of activity still, despite the mob of NPCs leaving in such a hurry.

"Look at it all! Just waiting to be dazzled! So, what kind of sports do you do?"

Kirby: Sports? Oh.. I don't compete in 'em.. Eh heh..

Kirby looked around the gymnasium. Lots of squeaking, lots of chattering.

Kirby: Um... Is there really anything we should be doing? *looks at Grey* You're not about to challenge me for no apparant reason, are you?

Grey, however, had already grabbed a volleyball and was going to serve it at Kirby's head until the spiky-headed boy's question reached his ears, at which point he shoved the ball behind his back and smiled innocently.

Grey: "Heh, maaaaaaybe...."

JDavis: You leave yourself wide open, Grey!

JDavis, who was on the other side of the gym, started to run toward Grey, before throwing the volleyball he had in his hand at him. The ball seemed to move at such an extreme speed that it stretched into more of an oval-shape and flashed red.

You may remember the pretty girl whom Mel opened a locker for earlier. She was leaning up against the wall, blushing furiously as she wore your generic issue Japanese schoolgirl summer PE uniform - which was generic in the fact that it was a few sizes too small. She whimpered and wrung the hem of the white shirt in her hands, tugging it down to cover her dark blue briefs - which may have very well been called underwear for their size. Anyways, she was pressed up against the wall, virtually unnoticable by all.

At least until Mel shuffled up next to her, in white shirt and blue shorts as well.

Mel: Hi.

Girl: Eep! o.o Oh... It's you! Hiii ^.^ I didn't get your name before...

Mel: I'm Melvin Gurio... Don't tell that to anyone, though. ^^; I ususally go by Mel.

Girl: Aaa... Nice to meet you, Mel. I'm Iris...

Mel: A plea-

At that moment, a red-hot, oval-shaped volleyball collided with the back of Mel's head. He gave a slight urk, and collapsed to the floor.

Grey: "Ha! Got him!"

Having caught the ball JDavis threw with reasonable ease (actually, it flew straight past him and he grabbed it off the rebound with Melvin's head), Grey whipped around, threw the ball in the air, and reared back, firing the ball from his hand toward the roof of the gymnasium...

...only to have it slam into the top of the gym and ricochet straight downward, landing at his feet.

Grey: o.o;;

JDavis: *sigh*

JDavis tapped the side of his head as he said under his breath...

JDavis: Melvin, Melvin, Melvin...

He then started toward the downed nerd to give him a hand, but something, or rather, someone, off in the corner of his vision caught his eye. Suddenly everything and everybody in the gym seemed to disappear and be replaced with a stereotypical blurry pink anime background with bubbles all over the place. JDavis' vision seemed to zoom in to where the girl was who caught his attention. Like Iris, this girl was wearing the standard japanese PE uniform, but she seemed much more comfortable with it. Her hair was long and blonde, and put up with a big red bow. She seemed to be having a conversation with somebody, but in his current state, JDavis couldn't even see the other person. All he could see was her, the pink background, the bubbles, and the blurriness.

JDavis: Mina~ <3

Guts: ... Hello? JD? *waves hand in front of JDavis' face* Anybody there?

JDavis: Hmm~?

Guts: Aren't you going to help Mel?

JDavis: Who~?

Guts: ... The guy you just beaned in the head with a powered-up dodgeball technique. Lives down the street from you. Known him all your life.

JDavis: Oh~?

Guts: *slaps JDavis*

JDavis: *snaps out of it* Huh? What? Who?

Guts: *ahem* Him. *points at Melvin*

JDavis: Oh, right. *walks over to Melvin* If I've told him once, I've told him a thousand times: Don't let pretty girls distract you when you're in the gym, it's a dangerous thing to do.

Guts: Look who's talking

JDavis: *kneals next to Melvin* Oh, he'll be fine. Maybe a little sore, but that's all. Guts, get me one of those health vials from the first aid kit thingy.

Guts walks over to a white box on one wall with a red + on it, opens it, and pulls out a tube of bright green liquid. He brings it over to JDavis and hands it to him. JDavis, in turn, presses one end of the vial against Melvin's arm. There is a beeping sound and a woosh as the vial automatically enjects Melvin with its mysterious health-restoring liquid.

JDavis: That should help it heal faster. Now, wake up, Mr. Gurio... Wake up and smell the... Hey, Guts, what do you smell in a gym?

Guts: Uh... asses?

JDavis: Wake up and smell the asses. *slaps Melvin lightly*

And poor Kirby was a witness to all of the insanity.

Kirby: Well, atleast this place seems to be more interesting...

He turns to Grey.

Kirby: Though, one thing irks me... Why are those girls over there--

His right hand points at Iris and Mina for examples.

Kirby: Wear those... Um... "Bloomers", while Chuch is wearing shorts?

In the next second, moment, the spikey headed boy was slammed in the back of the head by a stray volley ball. If it weren't for his thick skull, he probably would've gone down.

Chuchu reappears behind Kirby, catching the ball on the rebound.

Chuchu: It's probably because they came from countries that had that as a standard. Don't know why they didn't get new ones at the school store.

Kirby: *rubbing head* Aren't you gonna tell them?

Chuchu: Nah. It's rather funny to see them complain about it.

Iris bent over, leaning over Mel and looking down at him, blinking quietly the worry aparrent in her voice.

Iris: Aaa... Mel-kun? Mel-kun? Mel-kuuuun...

This, of course, caused the collar of her shirt to dip in just the right way, which made two huge streams of blood shoot out of Mel's nose in a comical fashion as he awoke and leaned up.

And thus, the school day was ended with bloody t-shirts and other random things.

During the walk home, Kirby felt a bit relieved that he could go back home. However, he was strangely bugged by the feeling that the day was a bit rushed and unorganized.

Chuchu: That's how the first days go.

Kirby: Aren't you supposed to be running home to get something in the mail?

Chuchu: You're thinking about the original story. It'll happen later.

Kirby: Meh....

Iris was walking home, once again in her schoolgirl uniform and her saucy beret, with Mel walking alongside her, the girl's stack of books in both arms, two large wads of tissue plugged up his nose, and his skateboard under his arm. Stopping in front of a modest two-story house, Iris took the stack of books, and smiled warmly.

Iris: Aaa... This is my stop. Thanks for walking me home, Mel-kun...

Mel: Uh... No problem? ^^;

Iris leaned in close to plant a peck on the boy's cheek, then swiveled and ran up the walkway to the house, her face burning brightly. After standing there and grinning stupidly for a moment, Mel dropped the skateboard on the ground in front of him, then stood on it with one foot, and gave the engine's ripcord a sharp pull, before planting the other foot on the pedal and dashing off.

From behind Melvin came the sound of another pair of wheels rolling on the pavement. Twister, riding goofy, was gaining on the nerd and his motorized skateboard thanks to the last downhill. He pushed hard on the pavement several times to pull even with Melvin, and it took even more energy out of him to keep up with him having no gravity to push him along the flat surface.

Twister: Turn off that engine of yours, Mel, and I'll race you down the next Big Hill. How about it?

The community's Big Hill was also its largest elevation drop. To make it from top to bottom without chickening out, falling, or dying was a feet few have conquered, and Twister was one of those few. The hill also posed the threat of necessity to stop on a dime ... because if a skater didn't, they'd be headed straight for a major road.

Twister egged Melvin on a few more times before the edge of the hill came.

----------

In the meantime, Zap was dressed and ready for the day's Cross Country. Although he wasn't too sure where the day had passed, he knew this had been what he was looking forward to. The camaraderie of the team members and the physical and psychological challenge it posed made it, in his opinion, the best sport the Fall season could offer.

He was hanging out by the shed (the team's official meeting spot) with a few other teammates waiting for other veterans and freshmen to show up, not to mention the coach. This year was going to be their year. The senior and junior class at Orange High School was the best the school had seen in years, and regional champs was a real possibility. Zap was going to be a part of the winning team this year for certain, having logged in a solid 16:30 5K at the time trial held a few weeks before school began. It gave him the humble sixth spot on the varsity team (out of seven spots,) but that was only for the time being.

A few of his fellow teammates made it into the clearing, chugging around their huge dufflebags, and started distracting himself with banter and a tennis ball one of them had brought.

JDavis: Outta my way!!

JDavis came speeding past Twister and Melvin on his bike, moving directly between the two. He went rushing down Big Hill at break-neck speed, doing a bunny-hop near the bottom so as to jump all the way across the intersecting lane of traffic. A green convertible sped underneath him as he did so. Once he came back in contact with the ground, he just kept going, as if nothing had happened.

JDavis: If there's one part of the day I enjoy, heading over to the dojo is probably it. ... Or maybe lunch. Or P.E. Too many choices

As JDavis approached one of the larger houses in town, specifically the one that belonged to the Zeal family, he spotted something purple resting upon the fence. He slowed his bike to a stop, perfectly even with it. Now that he wasn't moving so fast, JDavis could tell that it was a purple cat. The tag on its collar read "ALFADOR"

JDavis: A cat...

Slowly, so as not to scare it away, JDavis raised his hand toward the cat, planning to pet it. The cat simply stared at JDavis, completely unconcerned. However, once JDavis's hand got about an inch from its head...

*CHOMP*

The cat had bit down on JDavis's outstretched hand.

JDavis: Ow...

((Hum... Might have to do some more time traveling.))

Kirby leaned back on his comfortable office-like chair after completing his unusual amount of homework from the first day of school. He let out a sigh as he let all the memories flow into his mind after draining the thoughts of problems out of his head.

Kirby: I'm still amazed Schala goes to this school... Even more amazed she acts just like she does online...

Chuchu: Hey!

Chuchu popped her head into Kirby's room. Kirby nearly fell off his seat from the random intrusion.

Kirby: Whoa!

Chuchu: Food's ready.

Kirby: Oooh, great. Though, that took a while.

Chuchu: Food takes a while to make when there's more than six people living in the same house, you know.

Kirby: Yeah yeah... but shouldn't you have had help?

Chuchu: Why don't you help? You and me are the only cooks in the house.

Kirby: Seriously?

Chuchu: They're all just a bunch of lazy bums.

Pitch: I heard that, mang!
