((I finally watched my first episode of Azumanga Daioh. I felt like someone just pumped pink sugar flakes into my brain with a side order of the stuff the Katamari Damacy programmers had. And I've never had so many moments where I was like "... wow.")) Kirby: Frankenstein? Kirby shoots a look at Chuchu. Chuchu catches note of this and looks in some random direction. Chuchu: Uh... Kirby: You said there weren't any sad readings to be done! Kirby's right hand shot through the air. Kirby: Teach! Can I be excused on account that I don't like sad things? Chuchu promptly fell off her chair in response to Kirby's action. |

This comment drew the entire class's attention upon Kirbynite, and then a burst of laughter filled the room. Mrs. Martin: What? Of course not! That's the most spineless thing I've ever heard someone say! Chuchu! Get back in your seat. Kirby ... I think that's your name. See me after class! We'll discuss your little 'problem' if you don't mind. Twister, who was within earshot of Kirbynite, leaned toward him to give him a bit of advice. Twister: Hey kid. You could always try reading Remains of the Day instead. It's shorter and not as sad. Mrs. Martin: Samuel! Don't hold any private conversations while I'm teaching this class. Now, after you read two of the three books, you'll have tests on each of them. The Othello test will be a simple short answer test, and you'll write an impromptu essay on whichever optional book you read. |

OOC: Are we actually gonna get to DO this? Cause I'm gonna be inactive til about monday night... Grey gulped... He had read Othello a long time ago, but he hardly remembered any of it by now. And darn it, his copy had been lost somewhere in his house years before. Essays... Great, his first day back and already there was the prospect of one of those in his face. Why couldn't he have been given at least a week or something? He tapped Kirbynite on the shoulder... Grey: "Hey, man.... Frankenstein's not that bad. It's not nearly as sad as Flowers for Algernon or Of Mice and Men. Give it a shot!" (edited by Greybacca on 04-28-05 05:21 PM) (edited by Grey on 06-24-05 08:02 PM) |

((Who knows... This story can be random like that )) Kirby's forehead met his desk. Kirby: *groans* Don't remind me about those stories. I just realized how sad those stories were right now even though I read 'em years ago. |

First period continued to run on as Mel sat in his chair in the depths of the school, surrounded by glowing flatscreen monitors. He browsed idly through system information screens, looking at access records, information passing through the system, hardware status, all kinds of things. Everything was at nominal status, and there was no new equipment to install or problems to troubleshoot. In short, the most boring day as Student System Administrator, ever. As he leaned back in his chair, Mel put his hands behind his head. After a moment, he looked longingly at his watch, which looked like a regular watch, save for a large yellow atomic symbol on the watch face which obscured everything else. He gave a button on the side a click, and the symbol lifted off to reveal the digital LCD. Mel: Half an hour to go. o_< |

Mrs. Martin, being of consice character, was done with her beginning-of-the-year speech with plenty of class time to spare. Thus, being one not to bore her students, let them relax for the rest of the remaining hour. Mrs. Martin: But don't get used to this kind of break, tomorrow, I break out the textbook and grammar worksheets. Twister: Thanks Mrs. Martin. You sure are a swell teacher. Of course, he didn't forget to add a dash of sarcasm. Mrs. Martin: Gee Whiz, Sammy! Stop being a suck up. She said this with a return bite and a punch. |

Guts sighed out of confusion and turned his attention to the window. Outsied, he saw what looked like a tiny green guy with pruple legs pushing a multicolored ball around that was at least twicethe guy's size. As he rolled over the various objects littered on the ground, they stuck to the ball, or to the other objects already stuck to it. Guts: ... *turns to JDavis* Did you..? JDavis was leaning back in his chair, resting his head in his arms, with his eyes closed. He opened one to look at Guts. JDavis: Hmm? Guts turned back to the window, but there was no sign of the little green man. Guts: Er... Nevermind? |

Twister: Oh man, Kirby. You are in for a huge let down. ----- Meanwhile, over in the Photo Lab's darkroom, Zap was working on some of his enlargements. He took it out of the Dektol, the developer the school used, and moved it on over to the Stop Bath. All his new photo needed now was two minutes in the next chemical, Fixer, in order for it to be light safe, but ... New Student: So where does this door lead to? The ignorant student had opened the door to the darkroom, letting a flood of light into the room. The advanced students who were in the room gave out load roars of outrage. Zap reactionally squinted, then looked down at the picture in the tub of Fix which had gone completely black. He then looked over at his enlarger booth to find that he had left open the rest of his photo paper had been exposed. Zap sighed, it was a rusty mistake to leave his photo paper open, even if it was in the darkroom. Zap: ... Drat. |

Kirby: *turns head to the side* Hush, you. And so... the bell finally went off, letting everyone know it was time to go. There was a unmotivated 'whoo' coming from Kirby as he stepped out of the english classroom. Kirby: Lesse... Oh... I've got a foreign language for my next class... |

As the bell rang, Mel stood up from his chair, flicking a switch, and darkening the several monitors watching over the server bank and the school's camera system. He picked up his backpack, and headed for the door, turning off the lights as he left, and taking his skateboard with him. --- Walking down he hallway, Mel seemed to blend in perfectly with the crowd, remaining nigh-invisible as he pivoted on a foot in front of his locker. With almost zen-like mastery, he gave the dial five flicks of the wrist, and the door practically fell open. He put his skateboard inside, then pulled a laptop out of his backpack as he put it away. He ran his fingers over the spines of the row of books on the top shelf- Mel: This is... second hour. His hand stopped on a bulky math book, which he took out and put under his arm. He shut the locker with a swift brush of his foot, and began to walk down the hall -- when something caught his eye. Something out of the norm. Then again, this was a stereotypical Japanese anime-ish school, and everything was out of the norm here, but this event actually happened to catch his eye. She was a pretty girl. She was about five foot six, and wore a slightly modified schoolgirl uniform, the exception being a red pleated skirt and collar, as well as a perky red beret sitting on her head. Fine brown hair cascaded down to the small of her back in an extremely large ponytail. She had shimmering blue eyes, and her pale skin was creamy and flawle-- Shit, you people can tell where I'm going with this. Anyways, she was whimpering and pulling at her locker handle. Then she leaned over, tried the dial again, then pulled some more. Then she began pounding the locker in a desperate attempt to get in. Finally, she gave in, leaning forward against the locker, and sliding to the floor aginst it, crumpling up in a heap. And then she heard a click, and the locker's door opened a crack. Standing above her was Mel, a boy who was ragged and unkempt compared to her standards. He took his hand off the locker's handle, smiled, and walked off. The girl stood to her feet, and blushed softly as Mel walked down the hall. |

((Well, hey... that's your story arc, Melvin, so I'm gonna refrain from commenting on that )) Kirby: Let's see... Ok... This is the foreign language wing.. But... Chuchu: Kirby.. what's taking so long? Get in already. Kirby: Huh? But this door says french. Chuchu: The school's kinda cheap, so they somehow managed to combine classes. Kirby: French with spanish? Chuchu: Actually, it's Spanish right now. Kirby: Oh... Chuchu: Maybe if you didn't waste time, you could've been filled in during homeroom. This is our homeroom class, you know. Though, I don't know how this teacher can actually teach more than one language.. Kirby: ... Huh? Chuchu: You'll see why. Chuchu skipped inside the classroom, leaving Kirby in confusion. The cap wearing lad didn't like where this was going. He adjusted his blue jacket, and stepped inside. |

Zap, having cleaned up some of the dark room and the sink, quickly shouldered his backpack and headed through the crowded hallways to the front of the school. He looked around at the various school buses which were lined up, and finally found what he was looking for ... a bus leaving for the local university. He hopped up its few stairs, gave a mini-salute to the driver, then sat down near the rear of the bus. Since it didn't commute that many students, the bus was was about one-third of the size of an actual bus. Zap: So, Joe? I take it that I'll be the only kid commuting again this year? Bus Driver Joe: Actually, I have a couple of extra names down on the list this year. Some of them are tentative, but there's at least one more coming. The old, but kindly Joe gave a squinty smile through his rearview mirror to the young genius. Zap caught it and smiled back. According to the stories Joe used to tell during the previous two years of Zap's experience on the small bus, he was an old Army man, a veteran of both World War II and Vietnam. After spending over fourty years in the Forces, he decided to help out the next generation by driving them along to school and ended up passing down his acquired wisdom through his war tales to those who would listen. Porter had an immense respect for this wisdom and knew that what he learned from Joe was worth just as much, or more even, than what he learned from any textbook. Bus Driver Joe: It's getting awful late. Would you like to wait for the other student for a few extra minutes? Zap: Yeah, I can wait. ----- Teddylot: Alrighty, alrighty ... Now, where is that blasted Foreign Language Hall? I could have sworn it was exactly at this same spot last year. Unless ... unless that goat moved it on me ... again. *shifty* Now, if I were a goat where would I stash a hallway ... Random Student: On the other side of the school, retard. Even 'lowly' freshmen, like myself, know that. Teddylot: Watch your sass, mister!!! I have seniority on you! Random Student: Watch me care as I go off to better and harder classes than you'll ever take. Teddylot: Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuunk ... kid! Random Student: *walks away haughtily* Teddylot: ... right ... To the other side of the school then ... yeah. Darned tricksy goat. |

Kirby found a chair, and ploppd himself down. Spanish 3.... Hopefully this class isn't in a different point than his old school's. Everyone finally made their way to their classes, since a shifting between periods can't last too many days, right? All of a sudden, the door swung open, and a woman with long, blonde hair, and wearing a long skirt and a cozy sweater marched into the classroom. She slammed a textbook and several stacks of papers onto a podium. Kirby: She quickly scribbled her name and course name on the board. Davenport: My name is Luci Davenport. Of course, most of you should know that since you've had me for the past two years. There was a weak "yay" coming from Chuchu. Davenport: I hope you guys have been studying. The teacher begins to sort through some papers at the podium. Davenport: A friend of mine was getting married... And... you know.. I just came up with the great idea of having a pop quiz. Get your pencils out, class. Kirby: |

Grey: "Second period....... Math! Rightho, off I go!" Striding merrily down the halls and passing a dashing young man assisting an excessively beautiful young woman with her locker, Grey suddenly realizes how much of a complete and utter loser he is. "I do? Aww...." He was actually friendless, when it came down to brass tacks. Sure, there was Star, but that was only because of the detention club. Plus, he almost never came to school anymore, so it was kinda hard for them to associate. There was that Kirby Nite fellow, but they had just met about 20 minutes ago. Not much of an impression made. In high school, it was lways good to have friends, especially when... Nameless NPC # 388, Bully Model: "Hey, Tatters! What's eatin' you? Yo' mama couldn't afford a new suit?" ......The assholes came around. Kalar sighed. Another year of discontent. Pay no attention to them, Kalar thought as he placed a reddening flesh hand over a steel arm... Nothing you're doing is wrong. No reason to hate, no reason to get mad. No reason to listen. But every step he took brought on a new insult. He always tried to think of where he'd be in a few years. Out of here, to a place where people were more mature. Easiest thing to do was just live, day to day. Don't talk to anyone, don't bother anyone, don't hurt anyone. Stay out of other people's business. That's what Star told him. But JE-EEZ! He needed someone to confide in, or he was gonna go insane! Eventually, anyway. Grey: "Hm? Oh... I'm here." He had spotted a textbook in the arms of his earlier inspirator. Grey wondered what class he was taking as he walked into his own. Mr. Merdinyan awaited with a goofy grin on his face, ready to wreak havoc on the minds of his new students. M. Merdinyan: "Well, there! Good to see you again, Grey! I trust you'll be ready to actually PASS my class, this time?" Grey: "What, you mean like I did last year?" Mr. M: "Sure, sure, you keep that in mind." Grey took a seat in the front row, rightmost column. Same as last year. Unoccupied, same again. (edited by Grey on 06-24-05 08:04 PM) |

Second row, right in the center. That was Mel's desk of choice - it offered a clear view of Yamaguchi-sensei's whiteboard, and allowed him to put his feet up on the chair in front of him. He sat in his desk, putting his feet up as he plugged a pair of white earbud headphones into his ears. A thick math book lie on the desk in front of him, along with a very large calculator, and a notepad. Mel lifted one arm away from the back of his head, and checked his watch. Mel: One minute, twelve seconds. |

((Hm... Looks like I'm gonna have to provide my own material seeing as how I don't even share a class with anyone )) Kirby: That was brutal.. Kirby was slouched over his desk. The class is almost halfway done with, and Kirby already wanted the day to be overwith. Davenport: Well, class, time to take out your textbooks and.. Chuchu: *raises hand* Aren't we supposed to go over some kinda overview of the semester or something? Davenport: Hmm.. I knew I left something in the lounge... I suppose I should go and pick up the papers.. Alright, class. Por favor, abra sus libros y vaya a paginar A. Kirby: *sweatdrop* Um.. Miss Davenport.. I just moved to this area.. and I don't have my textbooks yet. Davenport: Oh! Que suerte! Come over here. *begins scribbling in a note* Kirby: Ok.. *gets up* Davenport: You take this.. and go pick up your book in the library.. and then stop by the teacher's lounge and pick up synopsis papers. The shortish, twitching man, fresh out of college and in his mid-twenties, stood before his charges and grinned wildly, blinking his eyes neurotically and rubbing his hands together with excitement. Mr. Merdinyan: "OK, guys, this is my very first Calculus class, I'm really excited about it, and I can't wait to get started. I've devised the entire lesson plan myself, going through special courses at the University to...." As he droned on, Grey's mind began to wander slightly... Boredom, boredom, boredom... Grey (thinking): "Man, he talks a lot... And fast, too. Some people never change." Grey remembered last year's coursework... Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. He barely wrapped his head around it and passed with a C. This year he was determined to do better, until... Mr. M: "..... Kirby: Oi.. The boy in the blue cap walked quietly through the halls. He felt tired out despite it being the beginning of the day still. Atleast he's taking a nice leisurely stroll through the school to get his mind off of things. Kirby: ... Which was was the library again? Kirby stopped walking and stared dully at the halls before him. He never even picked up a map. Kirby: ... I'm sure I'll bump into it eventually. |
