| We are currently learning about the Mayan civilization in history. Apparently they were very good with calculations; they were able to predict the exact time and place where a solar eclipse/lunar exlpse would happen... along with the lunar schedule, the equinox, the solstace, and lots of other things. 1500 years since the civilization died out, they can still predict the lunar pattern within 33 seconds... However, they also had one more prediction... They said the world will end Sunday, December 23, 2012. Around 7 years from now... creepy huh? So, is this phony bologna, or the real deal. Thoughts? |

| Actually, they don't say the world ends, it's just that they say that their calender just happens to not have anything after that date. That's when a few things align, though I can't remember exactly what off the top of my head. They believe that things go in cycles based on when certain things happen, so they didn't write anything after the end of this cycle. Trouble is, most of their stuff got... Ummm... Destroyed, so no one knows what that's supposed to mean. End of the world, though? I sincerely doubt it. | |||

The Mayans are credited by many with inventing the "0" as a placeholder, too. Mayans were quite a progressive group for their section of the world. Anyway, yes, the world will end in 7 years  I mean, c'mon, if the calendar of ONE civilization out of millions in the world's history only goes to some time around then, that means it must be true. Some fundamentalists believe that there is a Christian Rapture that should have already happened.But they were wrong. The Mayans were right. So I'm going to go and hide under my desk for 7 years. | Even before I learned that the Mayan's figured out the end of the world, when I was young, I would have these dreams with the same date, saying that it would be the end of the world: 12/22/2012, around the start of the Capricorn sign.
