For me, I've always prefered Gamestop.

In my area, EB Games has always seemed to heavily focus on PC gaming, and I'm just not really that big of a PC gamer. And there prices are usually pretty high.

On top of that, they tend to only sell things for the newer systems, while as I can go up to my Gamestop and still see Dreamcast, N64, and PSX games for sale.

Heh, I see N64 games for sale at my EB all the time.

Of course, I can't see many people wanting to pay $40-50 for them these days. :\

I can see them charging a higher price for something like Majora's Mask.

Those prices ENCOURAGE pirating rather than collecting.

I bought a fucking copy of Majora's fucking Mask. Brand new. Unopened. Factory sealed. Etc. From Cash Converters for 15$. Tell me. Why? EB doesn't give you shit for your games. Less than a dollar for your 64 games. They are thieves when it comes to used games. They still charge a minimum of $15 dollars for low quality DC games, and $5 for low quality PSX games. I remember I saw MM8 for $99...Used.

Their prices for used games at my store are consumer gouging. And not fun.

It has to be a store-to-store thing, because I have seen many different prices on certain games throughout several Gamestops and EBs. I think there are some store owners that decide to say "Look what I got! Isn't it cool?" and never intend to sell it. They just torture people with it I mean, seriously, it would be cheaper to have Chrono Trigger shipped from Anya's store to me than it is to buy it from my local mall, apparently. That's sad, but at least I know there are SOME places that have reasonable prices on games like that. There should be like, some uniform way of pricing for these games, just like there are for food chains, and just like there is starting to be for baseball card shops and such. You can take a baseball card magazine into a shop, and if the price there is lower than what the store has, odds are they will lower the price. Perhaps having something like that for used games would make things better?

Not in GameStops. Prices are set in GameStops/FuncoLands by the corporate office. Managers have no say in them whatsoever.

I was thinking about CT from PsX, not from SNES. We actually don't sell SNES games anymore (the strip malls sell the older games). All we have are N64, PsX, old school gameboy and up.

That totally screwed up my thought process.

Oh well... the corporate office overvalues things then

They don't overvalue anything, they just believe in the power of people willing to pay whatever they charge.

I'm just happy that retro hasn't exactly led to price gouging... God forbid I ever walk into a store and see stacks of NES games for $20 a pop. :\

I'm hard pressed to think of a place around here that still sells NES/SNES games. Probably have to go to the sleazy flea markets for those.

EB was selling FF1 for 25 bucks.

I found it for 2 dollars at a local record store.

I refuse to buy used.

Ziff: Lucky. The only game store near here, GameCrazy, sells NES games for no less than that, with the quality ones being around five dollars =/

I paid $7 for Perfect Dark at my Gamestop.

w00t.

My Gamestop stopped selling SNES, NES, and Genesis games about a year ago. Man was I pissed, they had decent prices, and a good selection.

Then I found Vintage Stock. ^_~
The place where I paid $14 for Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Yeah, the store rocks.
