Well, come 2006 it looks like my local EB in the mall is going to turn into one of the first Canadian GameStops.  GameStop and EB announced a merger today, with GameStop technically purchasing EB. The merger sees a very nice stock payout to shareholders and will see EB go under the GameStop banner, the new company controlling 25% of the video game store market. Any malls with both an EB and a GameStop will keep both in operation past the 2005 holiday season, and decisions on whether to close stores will only come in 2006. I'm a bit surprised at this... if it wasn't 17 days late, I would have definitely considered this an April Fool.  Any thoughts? Anya?  |

Gamestop didn't exist here in Sweden, but EB games does. The thing I like with EB games is how stocked they usually are, and how they tend to carry hard to find products. But they're little more expensive too... usually is the last shop I look at becuse of the price. But I usually find the stuff I need there.  |

| I had no problem with gamestop. until they took over a local funcoland and molested it. They wont sell pre-n64 games there anymore, instead, they're selling DVDs and shit ;~; So I have a pretty personal grudge against the place now; especially considering I've spent a good ~$400 alone on NES/SNES/Gensis games. | |||

| Poor Anya what? We found out the other day at work, and we talked about it on the conference call as well. Pretty much, we bought them out for 1.44 billion dollars, and things won't be final until around Sept. and the merge won't really happen until next year. So as of right now, we are two different companies. Employees who were fired from GS and went to EB, will be looked at on a case by case basis. We're not sure what store will close (and we're still going to build more GS) until later on nexy year. Years back, EB was set to buy out GS, but since there was so much tension between the two, it never happened. Now we bought them, and we are said to be nice to them and so forth. I've never really had any beef with EB, so I have no idea what they're talking about. Its usually not the company, but the person that you deal with that can either piss you off or get along with. |

| Another reason why we wanted to buy out EB, is so we could be more international. Depending on traffic in certain malls, and the size, if they'll keep two stores open. I know of two malls here that should keep two open. |
