| Well, when I got mine 3 months ago from Japan, it was perfectly fine. A week ago, my goddamn trailer got blown off its supports by a microburst and my entertainment center got knocked down. The first thing that hit the floor was my PSP that was originally on the shelf under my TV. You guessed it, the 230 lb TV came crashing down on top of it. After the cleanup, I turned on my PSP and it showed NO CRACKS! instead, there was an isolated area where the screen was (a bit) darker than the rest, and there are 131 blue dead pixels. If you were to look at it, you really couldn't tell the difference. And I have "better than perfect" vision, says my doctor... Anyways, whats wrong with yours? |

| Better than perfect. Yeah, that makes total sense. What's wrong with mine? Why, it's invisible, I cannot find it. It's nowhere to be seen. Not only that, but no money is missing from my bank account!! It's almost like I never bought it. Why, how can I play Another Wipeout Game and Generic Pretty Racer With Lots Of Cars? I am at a loss. |

This could have been posted in the PsP thread, but it might get lost in there.  The calls coming in about "broken" PsP has really slowed down, and sometimes I'll go through a day without one. As for mine: 1. Three dead pixels (that I can see) but I can only see them when their in the menu screen and it doesn't bother my gameplay or movies. 2. When I play a fighter game, I tend to be a bit more...aggresive, and I keep opening the memeory card slot. I doubt its a defect, more or less something that I am doing wrong. 3. Just yesterday, where you open it to to put the UMD in, well, it doesn't want to close now (disc drive if you will). I have to push the button that opens it over a bit more for it to stay closed on its own. I've been thinking, when we get more in on Monday, that I might just defect mine out and get a new one. Yea, one of those perks, you know. |

| Nintendo is known for sturdy hardware, and well. I heard about a few dead pixels on the first batch of GBA SP's, but not on the same extent as PSP. Althought I think you can replace the hardware if you see any dead pixels on your GBA SP/DS/PSP with no problems. And to be honest, Sony hardware is not wellknown for being durable. Some Magazine did a test with Gamecube, X-box and PS2. The PS2 was the most fragile, while the Gamecube was apparently the most durable. X-box was almost as durable as Gamecube. I heard alot of stoires of people who throw their GBA's and DS's over the other side of the room and still it works perfectly. Anyway, both Sony and Nintendo replaces "defective" hardware right? |

| Yup. Sony tries to just outproduce during the first generation and super-saturate the market. Meaning that the product is good, on the average number wise, but due to the high amount that have been rushed out...Defects are alarmingly high. |

| And that was a waste kinda, PSP didn't exactly get sold out at many retailers. And they had to shoot up the European release date. Does sony replace PSP's with dead pixels, even if there is only one dead pixel? Some manufactors only replaces it if there is at least three dead pixels.  Might mention that I have no problem with my DS or GBA SP. I have a few scratches on my battery cover on my GBA SP, but thoose aren't visible when it's on the table and nor when I play the GBA SP. Then, if I did own a PSP it probably would be in a top-notch condition too. Since i'm very careful about my consoles... |

| 600,000 was fine but I think Sony was disappointed with that figure. They probably wanted 1,000,000 to fly off the shelves in the first three days, and the system basically took time to move. It took around 9 days for a store near me to move all of their first shipment of units. Any idea how many units were pre-ordered for the launch? |

| With the two shipments that we had, I would say maybe.....60+. In our first shipment, we got about 80 in, and if we didn't have to hold on to the reserved ones, we would have sold out faster. The second shipment we only got in 20 units. I think we're getting more this week, anywhere between 10-20. |

| I don't have a PSP, but I might get one within a couple months. Not for the games (seeing as they don't have any I've seen that I would really like), but rather for the fact that it would be eaiser carring a couple videos around then on CD, and the fact my Diskman is dying. As in flawless CD, skips when sitting on a table. I'd just need to get a much, MUCH bigger memory stick for it. ^^ |

| Mine is too expensive and therefore still sitting on a shelf at Walmart. Seriously though, the only reason I'd really consider buying one is that it can play MP3s and movies, and DS will be able to do that soon enough anyway. Nintendo might not make anything to do it with but eventually there'll be flash carts. DS is better designed for that too; you can sit it on a table and open it 90 degrees. |

Back to a post a while back
This reminds me of something I saw in the UK Nintendo Mag. Some guy lost his GBA, he found it in his garden about a week later. It had been rained, snowed and was caught in a drought. He put in new batteries and it was still working perfectly. Goes to show Nintendo hardware is the most durable Also I got my DS as soon as it came out over in the UK and mine came with one dead pixel. Plus it has gone now. Either that or i just haven't seen it while playing |

| yeah.... thats like my old gameboy got thrown in a puddle, by my little brother, and I took it out, and dried it off by putting it over a heater for a few hours, and using a blow dryer, and put some new batteries in it, and it still worked, not 100% but it still worked...sony seems to not even think about durability half the time. |
