And have their own CSS class so people's layouts don't wreck them.

That's actually a really good idea. I've never seen anyone manipulate a spoiler tag so as to pretty much give away part of the spoiler, and I couldn't see anyone wanting to... So I'd put this down as a "useful, but not necessary right away" idea.

You have a point, but in honesty most users wouldn't screw around with that. What's the point?

Shockingly, this would take roughly 50 seconds to impliment assuming full access to the code.

Just modify it to be <div class=spoiledeggs*><font color=#FF8080>SPOILER ALART</font><br>your stupid text goes here</div>, and add certain styles to layout.php and viola. Instant fixed spoiler tag.

Of course, this is easier said than done, simply because I don't have access to the code and god-knows when someone with said access would actually READ this.

Edit: or do it, for that matter

-------------------
Edit 2:
I looked thorough the code... even with AcmlmBoard's mashedmessofcodinglikethis I still managed to find the proper things and estimate it would take, at maximum, five minutes.

And that's 99% coming up with the proper CSS to stick in there to block it out.

...Is there a problem that I don't know about that we have with people ruining things that they put under the spoiler tag? I'm sure 99.9999% + of people highlight or quote the thing anyway to see what was said.

Many people -- especially movie-goers and such -- like spoiler tags because that way the ending won't be ruined when they watch the movie or beat the game.

It's just common courtesy to block out anything that would ruin the movie. You can go ahead and highlight them, but some of us will just stick to watching the movie/ playing the game first.

a CCS solution should resolve links in spoilers as well right--that was why I made this thread in the first place

Xk, you totally missed the point. I don't care if you know how to fix this stuff. My point is that coders like you always act like a fix will take some ridiculously short amount of time to locate and fix (without accoutning for further bugs possibly being induced by it.)

I notice you didn't actually post any code, but Lord knows that will just incite you to do the code yourself and act like you did it in 2 minutes or something.

Alright, I included screenshots of Chamclock just to show when I finished each block (including looking up the proper CSS to use)

Remember to allow 45 seconds for screenshot one and 30 seconds for screenshot three for taking the screenshot, pasting it in paint, and saving it -- especially one, where I had to cut and paste a smaller section of the window (because moron me forgot about alt+prntscrn)

This code should work properly, provided it is copied correctly:

15 to 30 seconds

1:00 to 1:45

Total: 1:15 to 2:15

I was, at most, off by a whopping 1 minute

I'm so glad you think that way. Problem is, I just proved that it would take a rediculously short time to code and would not cause any further bugs.

Bite me.

There is no problem. I just proved that you're compulsive. That was the point you failed to see.

What was I supposed to do? You forget, it was Lose/Lose for me either way:

That's why I included the time on the screenshots to prove, not act, that I did it in two minutes. Fuck off.

Not to mention, I did post some code -- what to replace the old spoiler replacement with -- but you obviously overlooked that. The only thing left was to add some styles to the GIANT, OBVIOUS BLOCK OF CSS THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS IN LAYOUT.PHP but I figured SOMEONE would get that. Wrong again, I suppose!
