We can use all HTML.This is an example of the <pre> tag. Edit: I just remembered that my layout is in a monospace font... so this example is probably best with layouts turned off (edited by FreeDOS on 04-10-05 05:51 PM) |

You probably have this feature on another board, such as YaBB or phpbb. I know transcorp.parodius.com has such a feature. It's similar to using quote, except it changes the color, font style, and indents everything. But I don't recall anything of that sort for this board.

Well, neither of those codes work. I have two "bookmarks" in firefox that zooms in all images and the other zooms out all images. If I make a link it doesnt work, but if I just type it all out, part of it comes up as being italics for some reason. Should I just put it in a text file and have people download it and copy the code into a new bookmark? Seems like it would be easier with some sort of code to show it. I know I have seen someone here, I think HyperHacker, have a box with code in it that wasnt read as html, just plain text.

<code> doesn't work with indents unlike <pre> However, unless you use CSS to modify how BR tags appear within pre, it's going to look ugly

OK, I will put the code in the xmp tag thing and you can see what it does. (Deleted) (edited by Sawnec on 04-12-05 04:01 PM) |

I don't understand why people have an aversion to code appearing in a proportional font...fixed width does seem to work better for actual coding, but people seem to use fixed width even for mentioning a word like "printf" in a sentence.

Perhaps because most layouts use proportional fonts, and therefore using a fixed-width font clearly shows that they're referring to code? Just a guess. |

I mainly use the code tag because (with some CSS) it preserves spacing and newlines, hence the code doesn't look like crap. It'd be better if smilies didn't get parsed in it though.Originally posted by DarkSlaya But completely screws up the page if you try to edit or quote the post. |

this is because textarea is a form item and when you submit a form, you submit all data that is in any form item... well, in my experience in using forms anyways (and yes, I have two seperate form blocks )

It's not so much that as the fact that the text is placed inside a < |
