I've run into surprisingly few problems regarding 1.A2 development and I think I can finally make it 100% clear that 1.A2 will be released - as a distributable - around this time tomorrow. (Just check the time listed on this post and add a day.)

I think it's a good thing to here repeat the informal rules regarding distributables that has always applied before, in the way I'm going to put it on the download page:
  • We're providing distributables as a courtesy and a nice gesture.
  • We don't owe you anything, including support. If you can't figure out how to set something up or change something, consult the forum on Acmlm's Board for help.
If they can't help you... tough. We may be able to help in some cases, but don't rely on us helping you in time, finding a correct solution, or actually responding at all.
  • We're not supplying anything more than the most basic things you need to get off the ground. If you're not particularly good at PHP and MySQL, either find someone that can help you or pick another board developed with a focus of being easy to set up and maintain, because this board hasn't. This is not to say that we go out of our way to make it *hard* to configure or maintain the board, just that making it *easy* is hard and takes effort, and we only have so much free time on our hands to develop this in to begin with.
  • No warranty of any kind is implied whatsoever.
(By the way, if you think this isn't the way things are handled now, you are disillusioned. It's precisely how it's handled now, and it's precisely how it's been handled between the time I got my first AcmlmBoard distributable (1.65, I think) and now.)

And this really does come with -everything- we could possibly find, here? (Excluding shop related things, of course)

The very same 1.A2 will be powering this board by tomorrow or Wednesday - I think I'll even install it directly from the dist to prove my point, as opposed to copying over the changed files like I usually do. Code-wise, you'll be getting the real deal. (Color schemes and stuff might need some database work to set up.)

It's worth reiterating that when 1.A2 is done, and the first flurry of 'how-do-I-do-this' has died down, I'll start development of a kind of plug-in functionality to put into the board. (I don't know when this will start or how long it will take, I just wanted to let you know that I'm on the case.)

You *are* wrong about that. It'll be downloadable via a link in the version history, and the file itself will be hosted in a sub-directory on this server. (And no, it's not up yet. Stop looking.)

Well as goofy as this may be, I'm excited.

And I'm sure I say this for everyone when I say this, "Thank you Jesper" for your work, -it is- appreciated.

... Goodbye Acmlm+Erk ...

Even though me and several other people have put lots of work into my current board. I do plan on using 1.A2 and then adding off of that. And I think I should say this too just as Xeogred said before... "Thanks a lot Jesper -it is- really appreciated." Also Xeogred shop.php wont be included just for your information, this was stated a while back ago.

But like with version 1.92 it will have a SQL script at least?

Seems like a obvious question, and we could always use the SQL script from 1.92 and add the few missing tables (if it's even needed). But yeah.

I wish I could get 1.92 working on my local server thought, it's not like i'm hurry. The older board takes ages to load, ten seconds to generate a page...

If Acmlms code was converted with switch and case commands it would be even faster. My avtiveusers.php loads a lot faster now. Credit goes to Glenn for making it.

I'm VERY please you're releasing this, Jesper. Gives me a tingly feeling inside

hahaha no.

I just wonder how many people will switch from Acmlm+Erk or 1.92. I wonder if Erk himself would take 1.A2 :p

...that's should actually not be too hard to do. Older browsers (like IE4) have so many problems with this site, yet it uses basic things as tables. Thought who is seriously using such outdated browser?

Making it output valid HTML is perfectly possible technically - with tools like Tidy - but until we have stylesheets and schemes that take advantage of good HTML, it's a pain in the ass with no demonstrable benefit.

...no, Kitten Yiffer, I'm going to make the guys installing the thing for the first time *guess* which tables they're gonna insert. Of course there'll be an SQL dump included. Jesus.

i didn't really plan on using any tools, and when i said 'validatable' i did mean that i have switching the board to CSS in mind.

Which is why we're working on switching the board over from table soup.
