This would seem like the perfect April Fools joke, but GameSpot would be a few days early with that. A Famicom GBA SP came out earlier this year in Japan along with the first wave of classic, budget NES titles, so this seems no different. Plus I like the layout - old-school NES controller! I prefer it to the Famicom layout actually. The only two games we're not getting (at the moment) are Mappy (never came out for the NES here) and Star Soldier (did come out but I guess it's obscure). Info and pic here. |

Well some on gamefaqs is taking this as an April fool joke. Isn't it suspcious that it's only appearing on gamespot? But if it is real, it's probably dosen't get released over here anyway... |

If it is an april fools joke, It's a very nice one, because this looks far better than the famicom one. I wouldn't mind importing this, but I'm not gonna buy the other one. It's because i grew up with the fake SP's style, and not the famicom's one. | |||

Why do an April Fools joke three days before the actual date? It makes sense actually - Nintendo was rumored to be bringing out American versions of the games and the SP since they've done well in Japan. Actually... *checks* Yup. It's on the news page of nintendo.com, so I'd chalk it up as fact. I *AM* a bit concerned about the tagline... The Games are, Like, Way Awesome, and the New Game Boy Advance SP is Bitchin' NINTENDO! What the hell's up with the casual swearing? |

Casual swearing entered the Nintendo realm about the time that RPGs came about... there are several japanese swear words in games... they are just nicely translated to seem less mean in America. I guess they're taking the Jap attitude now and not caring about swear words. And about the classic NES controller.... that would be the same as the current GBA SP controller minus the L and R buttons Um... I'll just use PocketNES instead of this. |

"I mean, Donkey Kong and Pac-Man? These are, like, the best games ever," said Perrin "Mallrat" Kaplan, Nintendo of America's terribly hip vice president of marketing and corporate affairs. "And if you aren't just dying to get your hands on the gnarly new Classic NES Limited Edition GBA SP, you're a total dweeb." I think I'm going to cry. |

JDavis != dweeb. It's also on IGN. I made a photoshopping of an NES SP before I saw this... ignoring the lazy job I did, mine was somewhat better in my opinion I'll upload it later. |

wite: It was announced in Japan a while back but Nintendo had only planned an American release. There was no fact or announcements or anything. Otherwise they'd have that article 2 months ago. |

My version. With the buttons in a recessed area like on the Famicom SP. |

I first heard about it from TMK (I randomly browse through my bookmarks too), the NES GBA SP design looks great though, considering that the new SP's will be purchased in an record-breaking time by the time those NES GBA SP ship here, as well as the remakes. And not to go off topic, but... JDavis: That's an neat awesome design in the image you got there, an excellent creative piece of art indeed, that's what an NES GBA SP should look like. |

Originally posted by JDavis Whoa, that is so kickass, I want one now. Can't wait for other cool titles like Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Castlevania, etc. So are the GBA rereleased going to retain the original NES graphics and sound, or be remade? It would be cool if there was two versions of each. I still need to get an original NES and some games though. I've never owned one, I've only played NES games IRL like, a couple of times. Unfortuneatly, I never grew up in the NES era. |

I know that there's no lockout. Heck, even GB's never had region lockout. But who wants to pay extra for overseas shipping for a Famicom one? |
