I choose Dracula's Curse, my most favorite NES game next to Mario 3.

Well for some reason I can't vote, but my current favs are Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Dracula's Curse, and Aria of Sorrow.

I finally beat Rondo today BTW. How do you rescure Tera? I need to go back and save her, to get the good ending. Did they steal the idea of Tera from FF6, I mean they both have green hair lol. It doesn't seem like such a hard game now that I look back on it. I still need to beat CV3 though, it's so much harder.

Of all time: Symphony of the Night

Of the handhelds: Aria of Sorrow

I have nearly all the Castlevania games save for some rare-type versions or just versions that aren't as common.

Look a little harder in stage 3' and you'll find Tera. When you do you'll beat yourself with a stick for not noticing it.

Enough choices, hm?

I don't know if Kid Dracula is officially part of the series. In any event, SotN although I also love CV1 and CV3.

Whoah, I didn't even notice that as a choice. Kid Dracula has NO ties with the Castlevania series. What's wrong with you Ralphy?

If people count Parodius part of the Gradius universe then Kid Dracula counts with Castlevania. :-P

...and yes it does have SOME ties. It had Galamoth, a boss in Symphony of the Night.

Symphony of the Night is one of my all-time favorite games. It's like a gothic Super Metroid (which I also enjoyed very much) with RPG elements. It's so much fun to explore the castle, find hidden stuff, add to your collection of dropped items (and there are tons and tons of these to find), and build up Alucard's stats. The difficulty of the game can easily be adjusted to your playing style, too. Having trouble? Level up a buttload, find the good items (like the Crissaegrim, the Godly Sword of Smashy Smashy Goodness), and Soul Steal when you get stuck. Want a challenge? Equip crap (or nothing), or try the 99 Luck Code, which gives you lots of luck but sends your other stats into the pits of oblivion. You can also play as Richter Belmont, which is a very different experience.

Of course, SOTN's gorgeous graphics and stunning soundtrack are a bonus, too.

Aria of Sorrow has been the most fun for me so far...But it was a tough call between that one, the other GBA ones, and SotN

Rydain, I'll never forget when I first got a Schmoo (is that what it was called?) to drop a Crissaegrim. I equipped it, attacked, and nearly pissed my pants. After that, the game was pretty much over becuase nothing left was challenging anymore.

What I found funny about it was the fact you get it off such a weak/lame ass enemy. What they SHOULD have done was created an optional boss. A very difficult one to beat and have the Crissaegrim be the reward.

Oh jeeze, and let's not forget about the Shield Rod/Alucard shield combo.

Oh, and one of the cool things about this game is getting an ungodly amount of map % by using the double heart refresh trick. Konami gave this game more replay value than they had originally intended.

The Duplicator + Power of Sire combo is more deadly.

There is one that wasn't listed, Haunted Castle. That was for the arcade.

Either way, I still think Castlevania Symphony of the Night is the best one out there. And I'm highly loyal to the series!

Mine has to be the first GBA release of Castlevania in the UK... I think it's circle of the moon... But not sure... The whole title wasn't printed on the UK version... I'll cast my vote when I find out which one it is...
