Not too long ago, I heard Spike Lee say that Larry Bird was the most overrated athlete ever in the NBA and I really think that he was playing the "race card" when he was saying that. Vince Carter is the most overrated player in the NBA but not in all of sports because Keyshawn Johnson is definitely the most overrated player in all of sports. I know that he can catch the ball but he needs to get more TDs and he whines way too much. In my opinion, he isn't a #1 receiver but a #2 receiver instead.

Who do you guys think it overrated?

Although Keyshawn is, I think that teams are realizing that now.

I think Warren Sapp is.

All he does is take up space. After his rookie season what happened? Nothing. He had average seasons.

Keyshawn. I'm glad he's being traded to Dallas. That's where he belongs.

David Justice and Dan Marino.

Justice is one of the reasons why I started to hate the Braves in the first place.

And Marino, well, as a kid, I heard too many times, over and over again, how he just keeps fumbling the ball, and now he's looked at as one of the best?! Heh...

Don't ask why he was hyped up here...when he never even played in this state.

Vince Carter... what, exactly, DID he do besides get hurt and KILL in that slam dunk contest? And he won't do the latter anymore...

He's just been injured a lot.

If he's healthy he can be good, like in the beginning of the season.

I don't think ANY of those 5 are overrated. Some are injury-prone and some are past their prime, and Beckham is just a very good/great soccer player.

I think Ryan Leaf WAS very overrated, on the other hand...

I forgot about him. I guess that is how bad he was.

Anyways, I would have to say that David Justice wasn't overrated at all because he was great with Atlanta. After he left the Braves, he sucked throughout most of his career.

A-rod.

One word post in this case is NOT spam. Enough said with his name. NO PRO ATHLETE deserves that much cash (NO pro athlete "deserves" >10mill/yr, and NO owner should make as much as say Steinbrenner, and NO ticket to a baseball game should be >$50 and NO hotdog should be over $2)

That's a good point. He's put up great numbers, but at an astonishing price.

I hadn't thought of it like that.

Yea, A-Rod, money wise, is overrated. But I believe the one guy that was certainly overrated was Dan Marino, like Anya said. I mean, sure, he has a ton of passing records... but there's one thing he doesn't have: a championship. Why? Well, the Dolphins had the talent for sure... was Marino keeping them down?

Something to think about...

I don't think he was that overrated.

He rewrote the record book.

He can't be that overrated if he set all those records....but Joe Montana....

He had a terriffic supporting cast...think about that.

A-Rod is the future of baseball. Assuming he doesn't pull a Griffey i think he deifnately makes a run at Babe, if not Hank. The kid's 28 years old and he was 2 or 3 MVPs. It's not like he planned on making the amount of money he did. He was actually looking in a 150-175 for 10+ years. Texas overpaid him.

Honestly, if 250 mil was put in your face would you back off on it?

not on the list but i think Donovan McNab (QB for philidelphia eagles) he is not that good, his teamates make him look good but in my oppinion he is one of the worst players on the field

Hah ha.

That's why before he came in, and they had the same roster, plus him, he took them to the playoffs.

Now A-Rod, he's hit 300 HRs. If he keeps this pace up, by the time he's 36, he should have around 600. A few seasons after that, who knows?

Donovan McNabb, overrated?

What talent around him does he have? Until they got TO, they had absolutely horrible wide recievers. Their running back have not gotten over 1100 yards rushing since he has been there. And last year the defense was average at best.

As for who is overrated, there is a whole slew of quarterbacks coming out of the draft who were salted to be the next great quarterback.Drew Brees and Shaun King just to name 2.

Anyway as for the Larry Bird comment, he is in the top ten of all time. Right up there with Karl Malone for the best power forward of all time.
