When it comes to hacking SMRPG, there should be a program that combines the elements of Temporal Flux and ASCII's RPG Maker 2003.

Yea, it is actually really hard to do rendered graphics, I'm guessing. A graphic hack for this would be a bitch, no doubt.

Right now I'm editing the Mario sprite again to look more Luigiish. As soon as that gets done I'll continue with the text editing. Here's a IPS patch of what I have so far.

Use a IPS patching program or use Snes9x and name the ROM and patch the same name. Snes9x patches it automatically without changing the actual ROM.

Interesting, certainly. I was half-expecting a pick up of those little jokes from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga on the text front, so I was a bit surprised. You know, that whole bit with "Mario and... green guy" or something like that. It would have been funnier if nobody in the game knew who Luigi was, but were wondering about Mario. But nonetheless it is looking good. Sonic is great. Yes, I did play that far already.

Hey, I want to make Mario 2 pixles higher so he's taller like Luigi. But the problem with that is the X,Y,B,A icons when in battle. The X would cover his his head more then usual so I'm wondering, is there a way to move the X icon a bit higher?

Move the X icon up inside its frame 2 pixles. If it takes up the entire frame, you need to change what position on screen that the game is showing the graphics. I do not know how SMRPG does this however.

Yeah, the X icon is serparated into 2 tiles and they are both full but it doesn't matter anymore. Well I tried it changing the icon anyway and well, it seems it doesn't matter! I should have acutally tried it first before posting . Heh my mistake. Ok here are some comparison screenshots of before and after.

*Edit* These are old screenshots and the ones on my site are better.

Isn't Luigi taller than Mario in 99% of games though, and the other 1% they are of equal height?

The only games in which he's the same height are those that share graphics between the two. SMB, SMB3, and SMW (excluding SMAS SMW) shared tiles, while SMB2 (US) did not. I believe SMB2 was the first known appearance of the taller, skinnier Luigi...

Well it doesn't matter because I did make him taller and it works so its fine now. Besides, it's better to make him taller in here then just to change Mario's palette.

Well, as nice as gfx hacks are, i find them to be without substance which leads to quick bordom. What we need is a level editor for this game so that we can come up with some cool stuff.

I think the first step to creating an editor is documenting the level data compression routine. Once that is done, we can all start finding data, and eventually compile enough of it to create a viable editor. I am going to give it a try as soon as i finish my current project, but im not very optimistic about my abilities to figure it out.

Whos gonna step up?

OK so fiiianly I started again with Super Luigi RPG, a Super Mario RPG "sequal". It's been like a month since I last did anything. Well anyway, I'm still touching up the Luigi sprites. I actually got the title screen now to say Super Luigi RPG thanks to Lunar Compress. Next thing I'm gonna do is change Peach to Daisy, change the boss sprites/appearence a little (maybe some new bosses? I dunno, all my plans are in my head

I sent you a PM so I hoped that helped. Anyway more on topic, I added some storylines for Bowser, Mallow, and Geno as in why they are in Super Luigi RPG. I hope you enjoy those and they aren't that long. Also, could a admin change the title topic to "Super Luigi RPG" now? It's more on SLRPG now then my other gfx hack.

I see some nice effort here. Not bad considering that Mario RPG graphics were technically based on 3d models.
As long as you're changing things, do you think maybe you could turn the green Axem Ranger blue instead? Fits better with him as the wuss.
