Cool. This all looks quite nice, and I can see you have some cool unique ideas. Fire and ice routes in the same level, mountain levels that take place at both the top and bottom, and shortcuts that warp you ahead a world or two. You don't see a lot of those. Originally posted by Schwa The tiles will glitch, and if you don't edit the counter, it'll still show the 'complete' graphics at 96. Nothing major really. |

Yeah, Hyperhacker... I was hoping you'd help me. You seem to have tons of knowledge of the SMW Rom, and I can tell because of your Sprite Editor program... (which, although I like, am not using in this hack) By any chance, do you know what offset I am to change to change the level counter? Either that or is there another way? Darkflight told me about a thread stating that question, and I suppose I could look there, but I was wondering if you actually know. A quick note to you guys... I learned a new feature of the Editor last night! It's the Layer 1 Events. Up till now I've made all my paths using Layer 1 Normal Editing, but I discovered that to get some of my tricks to work (like the Star Warp that appears back in World 1 later on), I need the Layer 1 Event Paths. And it's HARD! I have to have 4 dimmensions memorized at once now! Yeah, just a little fun info there... |

Guys, I want you to take a look at something. Okay, notice the Star Warp? That leads to Yoshi Sanctuary. I made it to be there right from the beginning, but it's inaccessable until you beat Tower 2 (Grove Tower). It's there, but there's no road there until you beat Tower 2. When Tower 2 is beaten, a road appears (the one displayed in the screen) that allows you to warp to Yoshi Sanctuary. Behold! THIS is Yoshi Sanctuary, carved from the remains of our friend the Special World. The levels up on top can't be accessed until the respective Towers from each World are beaten. Every time a Tower is beaten, a road appears that allows you to go to the next level in the chain. These levels are extras; nothing happens when you beat them, except you get some special powerup or prize. The stars at the bottom are the Yoshi Palaces before they've been beaten in the overworld. Yoshi Palaces are very hard to unlock, and once you find one, they're very hard levels. (I can't decide if I should use ExGfx for those levels or not. I want to use them for SOMEthing, but I don't know if it would ruin the consistancy of the hack.) You beat a Palace, and it appears in the Yoshi Sanctuary! Once all 7 have been beaten, they create a chain that leads to a shortcut to Bowser Land, with only 1 level standing in the way of Bowser's Castle. And what's the ring of stars in the middle of the map? That's FINALE. This level appears once you've beaten the single level after taking the shortcut. Beat this level and the game converts to Special World mode (just as if you've passed Special World). Update: I just made the bosses a whole lot harder. Roy, Morton and Ludwig take 5 hits each now, and Iggy and Larry are harder to knock off the platform. Wendy and Lemmy have more obstacles to dodge while you fight them, but they both still have 3 hits. THANK YOU all for giving me the addresses for that data. I say again, this community is awesome. |

Well, I'll be honest. The hack rocks. I like the way you set up the star road. The yoshi sanctum is neat, but it looks a little messy. Other than that, the hack has a lot of promise. keep it up! |

Looks very cool...and it's nice to know I'm not the only one making a hack without touching the ExGFX side of things. I'm also glad I abandoned the "elemental sanctuary" idea...I was actually working on the exact same thing sometime between my barely-recognizable two-world demo and now. I just kind of changed my mind about it...kind of glad now, because with my luck you'd finish your hack a bit earlier and release it and I'd feel like a supreme ass for having the same "original" idea in mine ;D And it may be just me, or the fact that there aren't any paths shown yet, but I think the Yoshi Sanctuary looks a bit weird. Kind of heavily-weighted towards certain ares of the map, though I'm sure it'll look better in context. *notes his own palette changes are crazy-awesome...except for the ones that aren't finished and are more crazy-hideous than anything* |

What I wanted to do with the Yoshi Sanctuary was reveal the levels as the Towers were beaten, but I discovered that only 1 tile could be revealed per event. That's why I made the Star Warp visible from the beginning. However, you can reveal an infinite number of new PATHWAYS per event, as long as they're on a different map than your current one, so I just went to town with that. So, instead of the levels revealed one by one, the roads are. |

what i dont understand is how you get the star to be accsible after beating the second world, i understand that its already there but how did you set it up so that when you clear one level, a path opens up on another one? i thought that you have to set a direction from the level cleared?

You can do that with layer-1 event animations. I'm using that in my hack too.

...I don't get it. What is so likeable about this hack? It seems to be using the same graphics and the special overworld that people liked so much is only a minor Special World edit. Besides that, the hack doesn't seem to have anything new or interesting from the screenshots. Yet even though the overworlds seem to be only minor edits, they have been quoted as 'awesome'. What's creative or awesome about it? I'm just not seeing it. Is there something I'm missing here? |

The overworld looks nice, decorative too. The volcano idea is awesome and I can't wait to see the "creative" paths they sound, well, creative. I like the idea of the yoshi sanctuary place but, maybe get rid of the logo? It makes no sense there and you could use something like a yoshi head instead to make it more like it's a yoshi theme. But looks VERY nice!

This is pretty awesome. It looks like you may finish this game. I too think its great that you kept the original graphics. Focus on the level design I say.

'Eye candy' is really one of the only things you can determine from screenshots. Yet this game has none and I have read nothing that makes this hack seem interesting or fun. So what the hell? Why is it being recieved so well? The screenshots are mediocre and we can't tell other things such as level design until we get an actual demo. From what I've seen through screenshots and the tidbits that Schwa has told us, I can't see anything that makes this hack good at all. Yet everyone says it's awesome. It's not like a game without original graphics will automatically have better level design and game play... I just don't get it. |

Not to brag, but DufarC is correct about my other hacks. I made the 1st Megaman 4 hack to ever be published on the Web, I created the 1st real good Sonic the Hedgehog 1 hack, and, though I don't know the 1st thing about ASM, my heart is in it. And that's what counts. What I say to you is, SOMEbody's going out of their way to cause trouble. |

No, I'm not trying to cause trouble. I just haven't seen or read anything in this hack that looks even the least bit impressive, yet everyone's going on about it like it's Super Mario Odyssey! I just honestly want to know why everyone's saying this hack is so great, because I just don't see it.
