| So I'm trying to make this USB keyboard work in Linux. In Debian, the hotplug tried 50 times to make it work, but then gave up and said it was "blacklisted". It's a ViewSonic keyboard and it's model number is: VSACC27936-1M. It's a working keyboard since I'm using it right now in Windows XP to type this message. Also, it works in the bootloader, but when HotPlug tries to detect it, it doesnt detect it. Does anyone know what is going wrong? Any help would be appreciated. |

| The bootloader supports it because it works according to the USB Keyboard profile. The hotplug might think that "oh, this isn't USB Keyboard, this is something else too and absolutely won't work without that!" and flushed the notion that simple USB Keyboard drivers would be fine, thank you very much. I don't know why it does it or how to fix it, but at least you know what it does, which might help. | |||

| I would recomend compiling some uber-generic usb keyboard modules directly into the kernel. | |||

| Many BIOSes can make USB keyboards and mice appear to operating systems as PS/2 oes. Try that. | |||

| If it's a BIOS setting, then probably. If you're thinking of the USB drivers for DOS, then no. | |||

| No, some botherboard have an option in the bios for usb keyboard support that reports the hardware differently to older operating systems. It also works on new operating systems that for whatever reason wont recognize the keyboard. |
