http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03/03/msdos_paternity_dispute/ Whoo! And I thought the little dispute would be set aside for causal hobbists to talk about their opinions. (edited by FreeDOS on 03-05-05 01:14 AM) |

interesting... however, regardless of the outcome, either party will think they are right so i'm not sure if this will settle the score once and for all... |

I would like to find this CP/M, if DOS is a "ripoff" from it. Althought does anyone accuse Linux/FreeBSD for being a Unix ripoff? Intresting how it can take so long time before they decide to do anything, MS-DOS as a mainstream OS is of the past nowdays. |

I used to have a version of CP/M for the Commodore 128...I never really did anything with it though, because I didn't have any programs, and it took forever to boot up. (The standard Commodore OS takes only a few seconds to boot up, because it's resident in ROM rather than on a disk.) | |||

Ahhh... CP/M 86/MS-DOS have very much in similar with CP/M. Although both OSes are so bare-bones it's kind of hard for a rewrite (if it is) not to be. SCO has that infamous thing about GNU/Linux being illegal. Of course, (almost) everyone now calls it the Smoke Crack Organisation. ~_~ I don't think the *BSDs have ever been attacked. Then again, I don't know much about them. |
